Ok l will give you this, while fasting if you do cardio and resistance training 3 to5 times a wk you will slow down the % of muscle loss by how much not sure but you will lose muscle and you definitely will not gain any lean muscle because of the fasting.

You will gain lean muscle as long as you continue to eat properly during your periods of non fasting. To slow down muscle mass you need protein sparing calories, like fat and carbohydrates. Make sure you’re supplemementong your body with energy for the workout and protein for he muscle fiber repair.

Yes it is 5 days old and I actually left fatsecret because of the absolute nonsense you were spewing. I decided to not be a coward and come back and confront you. You are talking out of your arse and you act like an authorative bully. Intermittent fasting is Not in any way related to anorexia nervosa. Not and never will be. Melkiah is absolutely correct. Do some damned research before you continue talking out your arse. Now I am done with this post.

Melkiah, if your talking eating in between fasting then it depends on how long each cycle is and how much back to back they are.At first there will be a weight gain when the person starts eating reg.again cause it's playing a natural catch up.How fast do you think muscle grows you should no this working with heavy weight's.it's a long process with lots of protein and calories and you might get .5% growth if you're bodies over the fast and your doing everything right. So your point was about muscle growth, My point was entirely different.l was talking about muscle loss during fasting, your talking about getting it back. Apples and Oranges

2426girl, Now its your turn First of all why do you keep adding Melkiah he's got nothing to do with what your hung up on.l'm assuming English is your best language and the way sentences are structured you would of understood when l said no one start's out to be anorexic, alcoholic or a junkie..99.9% of the people would agree and say ya that makes sense, that's understandable. So what do you want me to say, oh l know""there's no way you can become Anorexic if you fast , those people are born than way they are mentally and psychologically disabled,"" basically in your words. Ok yes l do my research and read people's stories of how the simply started and how it all got out of control.and besides all that l have a wife who is an RN with her Bachelor's and Master's ln medicine with 48yrs and going. She deals with this people to and their not crazy their just like you and me, they just created into a problem like junkies do and l'm an alcoholic with that disease. clean and sober 30yrs now.l wasn't born that way l created it myself. So miss high and mighty what do you have going for yourself? Don't blame me for your leaving. we don't talk on site anyway, you do your thing but if you jump into the area expect sometimes to be challenged.so stop trying to start a riot, your a big girl so put your big girl pants on and come into the arena with facts and stop the name calling it's unbecoming of you.

I eat all my calories once a day in the morning to take advantage of increased insulin sensitivity in the morning.

Our bodies actually are set up for fasting and sparing muscle. Look at our roots as hunter/gatherers. They feasted when food was available and fasted when it was not. The body wants to store energy as fat when food is plenty to use when it is not. Our engine pulls from the storage (fat) sparing muscle until the process is prolonged and then muscle is broken down. Consider this...if the body stoles from the muscle when not food available for several days, the person would weaken and less be able to catch more food. Short term fasting 12-18 hours is nothing for the human body.
