Really hate to call this the atkins flu...most often pple do not throw up with the atkins flu. I have no idea what you are eating because you don't post, but I would say you really need to get some fluids in you and would try some chicken or beef broth. Are you fasting? If you are your electrolytes may be dangerously out of whack, so even more important to get some broth in... If you are not fasting, I would venture to say this is possibly more of a FLU than the atkin's flu. I would think that you should be seen by a doctor based on the vomiting which is not atkin's flu, and I fear for your electrolyte balance if fasting... But if it is just a flu flu, then at least they can rehydrate you and give you an anti emetic for the vomiting... sorry you feel so bad

Thanks. After someone here who seems pretty knowledegable suggested it might be that, I Googled the actual phrase, which I had never heard before and sure enough, it fits although you are partl yright - it is only in some cases where there is actual vomiting. I have tried to even keep water down and I can't - not sure what is wrong. Today I ate a cup and a hlaf of beef stew (just the meat), and tonight 1/2 a cup of lettuce. I also had about half a cup of coffee no sweetener and a couple of vitamins and an excedrin for a headache. I have been following the 'no carbs whatsover' pretty religiously until yestaerday when I had a cup of coffee with a teaspoon of powdered creamer and 1/2 a packet of Splenda and then ate a homemade 'egg-foo'young (sp?) with some small pices of pork a tiny bit of cabbage and some eggs. Really though, right now I am sitting here wishing the world would swallow me up because I feel so terribly SICK and keep throwing up the water I drink and after that is gone, just dry-heaving. My hubby just went out to get me nausea meds and I hate to take it since it may interfere with the diet, but I see no other recourse right now ... sad.

I am sorry you are feeling so bad. I will stand corrected in that you cannot vomit with Atkins flu because in rare cases you can.. My concern is still for your electrolytes and the fact you cannot keep anything down even fluids. dehyration can be serious... Can you get your hubby to pick you up some sugar free power drink like Powerade Zero? That will give you back some electrolytes without adding sugar to your diet. I think right now with you feeling so miserable the important thing is stopping the vomiting and getting fluids in...broth is truly important. Like I said dehydration can be serious, and I would really hate to let you see this get too far. If the medicine your DH is getting for you doesn't work and you still cannot keep anything down, please seek medical advise and some re-hydration... 22 years as a RN working trauma/ER I see a lot of pple sick with vomiting and dehydration... Please take care, and at this point I would put the diet on the back burner until you can hold fluids down. Also don't be upset if this causes a small gain because when you are sick the body will hang onto everything it can....I call it survival mode...

Yes, I am pretty convinced you may be right as I took emetrol like a minute ago and I'm struggling to keep it down. Thank you so much for your advice.
