Byron54's Journal, 20 September 2017

Visited my doctor today (routine check up). Blood pressure was good 120/70. Weight down 4 lbs. Blood sugar coming down too. My doctor was pleased and told me to keep it up and come back in 3 months. Have another A1C scheduled for early October. My doctor believes it will be down closer to normal. Keeping my fingers crossed and still watching my carbs which is how I have been losing weight. It's slow going but proving to be very successful for me - solving two problems.
188.0 lb Lost so far: 21.0 lb.    Still to go: 23.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 0.3 lb a week

This message is for bigheads...I've tried to forget your comment, but it has been bugging me ever since you made it. First off, let me say I am glad to hear that you are doing better and I wish you only the best in your health and your life. However, you don't know me. You don't know my diet. I have been trying hard since January to lose weight and lower my A1C. I have been seeing my doctor every 3 months and I have his thumbs up for all my efforts and results. So, your "borderline" negative comment was not appreciated. I keep my results on this site to help me in my goal and to receive "positive" support from others who are dealing with some of the same problems that I am dealing with. Again, I am glad that you are doing better and honestly wish for you only the best. But next time you leave on comment, unless you know the person and their diet, please leave a positive comment - or don't comment at all.

Like anything in this world..Atkins/low carb affects different people differently. Just as some people cannot drink alcohol at all without becoming addicted/alcoholic, some people can't eat gluten, some people can't have sugar because they are diabetics, there are people for whom Atkins can be a problem. Going to your doctor and being tested is the best thing you can do when making any major change in your lifestyle or diet. If you are losing weight, if your blood pressure is nomalizing, if your cholesterol is coming down, if you are getting more exercise simply because you feel better then you have to think that the positives far outweigh any possible negatives. Genetics also have a lot to do with heart problems...if your relatives are prone then it is likely you are too. Also, ever since Dr. Atkins put out his diet..the medical profession has been kicking his ass. Food guideline all said it was bad and we should cut out fat and eat a lot of carbs and everyone in North America got significantly fatter and now the worm has turned and they are admitting ooops maybe we were wrong and Atkins was right. Remember the stink about eggs....oooh better not eat too many or your cholesterol will kill you. Now...sorry...eggs are okay you can eat all you want. Different strokes is all it is. You do what works for you.

Damn, unless something was erased, I'm pretty sure bigheads was just sharing his experience on his journey so that others could possibly avoid what he thinks happened to him. Nevertheless, I wish you both good luck.
