I'm a bit confused about this as well. In the book, Dr. Atkins says to take them out and that is how I count my carbs. However others now say that they should count so that is where the confusion comes in. It is also my understanding that they can slow weight loss some so if you are metabolically resistant you will want to limit your intake of sugar alcohols. Even if you lose weight easily you shouldn't take in too much because they can cause intestinal upset for many people.
