It may be from the endorphin release of exercising. Try to exercise in the morning so by evening you are tired out or participate in calming behavior before sleeping like have a bubble bath or read a book. I have always suffered from terrible insomnia and the only way I could fix it was to calm myself to sleep

That's great advice pureheiress. I'm going to expand on it a tiny bit. Doing a particular "habit" before bedtime, such as a bubble bath or reading a book, conditions our bodies and brains to know it's time for sleep. Having a "ritual" that prepares yourself for bedtime and keeping to a specific bedtime is a great start. Also when I get in bed, I don't go over the day that just happened in my head. Let it go. I go over how I want tomorrow to be. That will put me in a calming, happy state. Think of yourself being slimmer, having more energy for the day, things going smoothly...that sort of thing. The worst thing you can do is get in bed and start thinking about how you can't sleep.
