kimberly rae's Journal, 30 November 2016

I joined two rather interesting challenges for the month of Dec. First, log in everyday, second the intermittent eating idea, I'll only eat from 10am - 6pm each day, both with 30 minutes exercise a day. I'm back in the saddle buddies!

Good to hear from you. You've been busy painting, so I knew you were getting a workout! It's great that you kept ontrack with weight too - congrats. Challenge sounds good. Im logging in daily too. Are you doing fasting days with that eating plan? I read an article on it, makes sense. We're not really meant to be such habitual eating machines. My goal is more about listening to my body- not just when I'm hungry and full, but more importantly what makes me feel good and ready to climb a mountain. And then balance that with the other big things like getting enough sleep and spending the energy wisely. As I say that, I think of how much energy went out in pure frustration yesterday and how that could have been handled differently. Good luck to you, buddy!

It's such a wholistic process, taking care of oneself. You're doing so well just maintaining your very ideal current weight. That last ten pounds is really not necessary, is it? You've been here for quite awhile and feeling and looking wonderful, don't you think? Or is there something else you haven't mentioned. If you're heading into menopause, the idea is that an additional 10 pounds might be the new healthy. They say too light in older age is more likely to be problematic than a few extra pounds. You are taking such good care of yourself, I hate for you to feel as if you're not already there, ya know?

Yes Kristin, since August 2015 you've maintained 137 to 147 range perfectly and even before that a long time just below that range. Well done. 10 pound range is good.

I tend to keep up with the medical studies. That is not a bad approach for efficient weight loss. Obviously maintain hydration and get a little exercise even five minutes twice a day to keep the calories burning at an optimal level. And it is good to check in and have a bud or two lol. We all need the cameraderie to deal with our misery lol.

That is a funny name, Marcus Welby, brings me back ...was that TV show on in the 70's? He was a good doctor if I remember correctly. Thanks for your medical advice. 😉

I believe that if I keep off sugar, even leaving all other things the same, I'll lose the midsection bulge. I remember once not too long ago when I had trimmed that area right down and it felt great! When I first gained it back, even only 5-10 pounds, it felt like a boa constricter tightening around my waist. It was scary. Until I numbed up to my old sugar addict ways. Without that boa, I can move more freely. And that's just one measure. So it's certainly more than a number on the scale or the number on the tag of our pants, right?

I think for me I just can't see a life without sugar. Low sugar, yes. No sugar, no. So I'm looking at the other ways I can curtail that lifestyle. Walking again and this smaller eating window will allow me to eat less. I am such a grazer and its not good. But we all know what works for ourselves, I just stopped doing any of it for a long while. I'm back. The first days are torture though. Walking yesterday was tough.

I could very easily imagine some of the health issues from sugar crush in my future if I keep on. I have relatively minor circulation issues in my hands. An when JH told me she was on pre - diabetes meds, I thought that was where I was headed even before reading up on it. No thank you! I was probably eating worse than you on one of your bad days. Its good you're out walking! 💪

I am very aware of sugars. Super conscious. I think if it was January instead of December I'd feel the sugar could go but I know I want to enjoy a bit more normalcy during the holidays this year. I want to make Christmas cookies and send them out to friends. I have pushed almost all processed foods to the curb an with this eating less phase I'm in, I feel like I'm still watchful, but I hear you Kmcollins, I am also hypervigilant about sugars.

So you're using the homemades only rule? That's a good one for this time of year.
