I've really been struggling the past month or so, so I've decided to shake things up by trying the Rotation Diet. I bought the book way back in the 80s and had some success with it. The idea is that to get both rapid weight loss and avoid shutting down your metabolism, you jump from one calorie level to another through the course of the three-week program. For men, you start with three days at 1200 calories, then four days at 1500, then a week at 1800, and finish up by repeating the first week. Then, you stop dieting for a period, slowly increasing calorie intake until you reach a level that sustains your weight -- between 2500 and 2800 for me. The book promises a loss of 10-15 pounds over three weeks. I figure I'll give it a shot and go through one cycle to see if I can't break through the malaise I've been dealing with.

I've finished the three 1200-calorie days and jumped to 1500 today. The third day at 1200 calories was difficult, but today, I felt like I was splurging at 1500. I'll let you know how it turns out.

For women, it's 600/900/1200. I would have a very difficult time at that level. Makes me glad I'm a man;)
