No wine the last two days. I think it sabotages my weight loss. However, my lasagna wasn't the same without the red wine. I had a really exhausting hike today. I had to pour water over my head I was sweating so much. Anyone know why this site doesn't include hiking as an exercise. I had to of burned 300 cals. Stay strong!

I found hiking in my exercise list - 1 hour = 366 calories burned. The only thing that I find that doesn't get taken into account is the type of hike or bike ride - meaning the harder the ride or hike the more calories will be burned. If you hike and your climbing more than strolling, you'll burn more. Same with riding, if I climb hills vs a flat ride, I'll burn more, even if it's for less of a time riding.

At least it's some kind of guide line as nothing is "etched" in stone. It's more of a keeping track thing for me.

red wine is suppose to be healthy to drink it after meals to help prevent heart disease.. but only a little :P. Maybe you can reduce a bit the lasagna portion in order to let some wine in? ..just a though..for me alcohol is a good motivation to eat lesser so the tipsiness comes quicker :D.. Anyway good job on the weight losing :)

I heard that. Pasta always means wine. Wings mean beer. Both slow things down though. I like 13dias's idea.

Giving up alcohol is one of the best things you can do for weight loss and overall health in general. I never really acquired a taste for wine with dinner, maybe I've missed out my whole life, but you can't really miss something you never knew. Good luck going forward.

Sugar and Randy, I so envy you your hikes! I'm still recuperating from my pneumonia, but my walks up the block are getting longer! And next weekend I'm going to VT for four days in the woods. Can't wait - even if I have to take it slow! On alcohol; it kills any weight loss for me. Definitely something to look forward to for maintenance.

Yeah, it is great to hike and I am addicted to the out doors, but I use up a lot of energy and often eat like it too. However, winters coming so I want to get in as much outdoors as I can. Wish you a quick recovery erikaholister.

Wine, Kale and spinach lasagna really haven't helped me lose weight. Let's face it, they sound like something you can say is good for you. However, cheese and wine are really bad for weight loss. This time around I am going no cheese, no bread, no sugar, no alcohol for two weeks and see how much weight I lose. I'm doing some form of exercise every morning. Just need something to snack on that won't give me calories. When I get bored I eat. We all know that exercise makes you hungry too.

I have given up alcohol, completely. When I make pasta sauce I use de-alcoholised wine. It works pretty well and tastes quite good in cooking because after cooking the alcohol in regular wine has burnt off anyway.. Reducing starchy carbohydrates and sugars really does work for weight loss.
