warrenwinter's Journal, 13 August 2016

Well, a happy Saturday to the community! I skipped dinner, and wifey just got back from her night of gambling. Ate some Starbucks bread and coffee. Last night, I first took a stroll on the right "creepy" east side of the Strip, and then crossed over to Aria to the "classy" side. Won and lost, but was an uneventful night. We have a nice "free" dinner tonight with VIP's, which was a surprise, but the trade off is, I miss my Rams game. Have a great one, everyone!

Also ready for the season. Will look in on the Rams from time to time. Being a former small, fast, nasty pulling guard in high school, I fixate on the O-line and sometimes have to rewind to catch the whole play. Good luck in Vegas.

Sorry you are missing the game. I hope the VIP treatment proves to be a worthy trade off. Enjoy stay safe on those nightly strolls.

Thanks, FTC! I want to hear your scouting report on my Rams! I played TE at CSULB back in the day. Tried to get with Jim Zorn in Seattle. Taught instead! Terry Metcalf was our running back, and Jim Fassel, who was our QB, was head coach of the NY Giants!

Wow. College ball was way out of my reach but I absolutely love it. I became a Steve Largent fan in 1974-75 when he was lighting it up in Tulsa. So I kept an eye on the Zorn to Largent show. A Sooner fan by birth, touchdown catches were like candy to me.

Yep, Largent was one of the best, for a little, white boy. We would practice on the same field as the Rams. Tommy Prothro was the coach. He would actually put on makeup for the cameras. I would watch Jack Snow and Lance Rentzel. I remember watching Jack, do sprints, and coach told him "pick it up" and he flipped him off. Different environment in pro football. Also the exact place Lance got in trouble, where we were practicing.

If I had made it as a free agent, I would have made 60k a year. Now, glad I didn't. The game is too brutal.

I also was living in the same house, actually he was living in my house, was Jeff Severson, who was living with me, when he went to the Super Bowl with George Allen. He also acted in those football movies, because the women loved his hunky looks.

My dad was a Cornhusker, and my mom was from Snyder Oklahoma.

Yep that's interesting. I was actually a season ticket holder, when Georgia Frontier pulled up stakes and took them to St. Louis 21 years ago. I was hoping I'd get some credit for season seats now. They sold out very quick.

Now there's a match! I miss the Big 8 days. My dad wasn't a gambler and only placed one sports bet his whole life. He put $50 on the Sooners in the "Game of the Century" in 1971. Lesson learned, he used to say. Wow, you've opened a book of memories I need to read again.

You know, I have been coming here very often for almost 18 years. It is interesting when you learn the advantages of all the casinos and places here. I love Westgate, the old Hilton's Sportsbook. They put in new huge screens. I was looking forward to watching my Rams over there, but I have learned not to miss comped affairs anywhere in town. New Years at Stratosphere was a blast. The best comped dinner at the rotating restaurant, and the party was mind boggling. You haven't been to a party until you attend a Vegas party. Lol

Wow, Rams are on ESPN and they expect 91,000 people out there in LA. Rams vs Cowboys, baby! Let's get it ON!

I actually like the guy as a head coach. Goff needs lots of work. At least other QB's seem pretty good. Gurley and Donald sorely missed.
