A remorseful Friday, in respect for the victims in Nice, France. Yesterday, I worked out again at LA Fitness, and was telling myself not to overdo it, over and over again. I wanted to temper my running to 10 minutes down from 12 minutes, the Wednesday before, but as I got into it, I felt good, and noticed my maximum heart rate was remaining around 155 BPM, so I did my 12 minutes, and fairly easily. Today, I have a bit more energy, but more muscle pain. I finished my weight workout more quickly, than my last workout. Off to the Orange County Fair to see Styx tonight. Have a wonderful, Friday!
My Pomegranate Tree is bearing fruit again, and I included this link to the "WONDER FRUIT". lol

Wow, toll in Nice, 84 dead, 54 in critical condition, and 25 unconscious! Attacker a French citizen, who lived in Nice, and most likely, a Lone Wolf.

Most of these people are actual citizens, not foreigners, who are doing these heinous crimes/acts of terrorism here in Europe. We were planning a trip to Nice, but we won't be going now.

So sorry to hear that, Engeland. Where do you live? It does seem, that France hasn't shifted to upgrading their security. Watching this event, you wonder, why was this so easily done, with so many people in one area.

So many here, wave flags, but hate government. Government is the only thing to protect us.

We are living in Belgium. In fact, I have dual nationality, American/Belgian. I don't know the particulars of what exactly happened as the story is still unfolding, but I think trying to stop a truck of that size plowing through a crowd wouldn't be so easy to prevent. I am sure they were checking people on foot coming into the area, but how would you be able to check someone in a truck who isn't going to stop in order to be checked? People are pointing the fingers at immigrants and they need to be looking closer at their own people.

Wow, you are directly in the hotbed there. My wife says Belgium is such a beautiful place. So sad, that you are surrounded with this inhumanity. This so called religious ideology is lethal. My wife is from a very religious family, Jehovah. I think she is a atheist. She has become obsessed with animal rights.

I am not sure why people keep saying Belgium is a "hotbed." Well, it's no hotter than what's going on in the states. Inhumanity is going in the states as well. I consider both countries in crisis at this time. If I still lived in the states I would be surrounded by it there too. Belgium is indeed lovely. I am married to an agnostic man. Most people here whom I've met are atheist or agnostic. Most Belgians aren't religious at all in my opinion. I consider myself spiritual and I don't believe in organized religion.

I believe you put up temporary concrete barriers, which is common here, and don't let any vehicles on the road, especially with thousands of people, but my common expression is where there is a will, there is a way. Lots of ways to sacrifice yourself to kill others. What if the truck had been full of explosives?

Other than these events, the crime is nothing here.

Well, Engeland, You make a good point. We are in crisis, here and I worry very much about the ideology. We are so, so, divided as a country. I don't even like leaving California, seriously.

I am not sure what barriers were used or if they were used. The story is still unfolding. The French aren't idiots, however, people aren't perfect either. These situations haven't be commonplace in France for years, so I think the French are doing their best. Is it perfect? NO.

Our flag is at half staff for something like the 68th time in the last 8 years. It all started with the Iraq War. The worst choice, imaginable.

Sugar, so many feel helpless. I am very worried about the near future of our country, when I see the temperament of the country, and it's politics. People here have forgotten what democracy is, and what it stands for. I am afraid democracy will soon give way to dictatorship, and that is when things really crumble apart.

So tragic, the events in Nice. Makes me afraid to go in any crowded areas. When we went to Amsterdam recently I felt very uneasy in the city centre, I just wanted to get back to the canals where there were just a few locals going about their day. Very beautiful and calm there. The city centre was fine - it was just me worrying about where ISIS might attack next. Nowhere is safe. That is exactly what they want - instilling fear into everyone. I don't know the answer to this problem. Tears for the French today :(

I feel sorry about that Doobrie. This guy was a common criminal, who decided his way to leave this world. So sad, that so many people, and many children killed. No doubt, you have to be careful when traveling. You definitely have to think a bit differently, when in large crowds in these times. Stay safe, Doobrie!

Not going anywhere for a while, Warren. We've been away four times in the last 7 months and, at the moment, I'm glad we don't have any more travelling planned within the near future. I worry about my son and his girlfriend going to France next month though. I've asked him to avoid crowds but could be difficult as they're going to Disneyland, Paris. Hope they'll have plenty of security there.

These despicable people want us to live in fear and I am not going to give them the pleasure. Nice was a total surprise to me. From what I read this evil person began shooting into the crowd before he drove the truck into the crowd. This happened at the end of the fireworks display, so maybe barriers were being removed? Don't know. No group at this time is claiming responsibility. This man wasn't on the radar so to speak; no real threat and no real criminal history in regards to being a national threat. Maybe he was just a nut who wanted to kill as many people as possible? Nutty exists in our world and doesn't always equate to ISIS. @Doobrie.......It will be ok. Paris has been more under watch than Nice. I would still go to Nice if it weren't for hubby. He's more afraid than I am. Evil exists in our world and you just have to use your best judgement to avoid it.

Also, Doobrie, I think places like Disneyland are pretty thorough about metal detectors, and searches. Thanks Engeland, I think you sum it up pretty well. Hopefully, somehow, things improve. I think the US needs to reconsider war for profit. I would rather see Welfare for profit. People like Trump, should think about paying some taxes, the rest of us pay. That scumbag ripped off many small contractors, basically dared them to take him to court, they recently showed one of his top sales persons on CNN, saying ripping people off was a way of profit for Trump University. The guy said you couldn't have a conscience about it. It was ALL about profit! All rich people here, aren't hypocrites, some are good people.
