Funny, my wife is sick of me telling her, where Tupac met his demise, there in Vegas! Well, it is an appropriate place to die, I guess! I used to go teach kids in their houses in Compton, and it was always VERY INTERESTING!

California, knows how to party!

So Smarty, Do you like Hip Hop and Rap? I bet you have some stories to tell, or not to tell. lol Sounds like you were a crazy teen, like many crazy teens. I mean, school teaches you a lot. I enjoyed the HS kids, and trying to make a difference. I should write a book about it all.

@Warren Did you teach HS?

Yes, I taught in Paramount right next to Compton.

Where you at Jimmie?

DC area. Are you familiar with the work of John Gatto? He was a NYC HS teacher, turned author.

No, I have never heard of him. How old are you, and have you always been into lifting. I was really big into powerlifting in my 20's.

You're a Skins fan, right? My friend, had the world open to him when he made the Skins as a rookie, and went to the Superbowl his rookie season, and George Allen didn't like rookies.

Hi Warren! Yes, trouble maker in HS I was, but with great grades lol! I love all kinds of music- rap, rock, electronic, world, but honestly never got into Country (it's So Cal and not raised in a ranch, however, I like Mexican country music!) did you ever see the Michelle Pfifer movie Dangerous Minds? Was that you?

It's funny, I even have some of my presets on country, my friend Kathy really likes Country Music. I remember that one, I think, she was a crazy teacher? I really don't remember, but I have seen it all, when it comes to the profession in 36 years. Did you have it kind of tough in your younger years. You commented about recovering, and I, no doubt, have had all kind of friends with all kinds of situations.

@Smarty I just read your long reaction to Diablo, who I think we almost all believe is completely wrong. I didn't know anything about Insulin spike before I came here, and now my own diet here has proven to me the validity of what this site is about. I really have enjoyed getting to know you here, and I know how addictions can really devastate lives. I hope you achieve your goals, and find success in your life. You strike me as such a sweet lady.

Thanks Warren! The Diablo post was from the heart, it's a daily struggle with addiction, all I did was replace one with another- food. Unfortunately... Not the best choice cause it landed straight to my waistline . I wish I could have gotten addicted to something good like volunteering, but my selfish mind just doesn't Work like that. dangerous minds was about a teacher from the suburbs (Michelle pfiefer) who landed a teaching job at a gang infested school but ended up changing their lives. It reminds me of you! You are such a kind soul Warren, definitely one of the good people! Thanks Warren for your nice words.

@WW Thought of John Gotta when you said you should write a book about your teaching experiences. Like you, he taught in urban schools and changed lives, in his case, no thanks to the system. His experiences made him a system critic and as a parent I found his work enlightening.
