no energy, demotivated, tired....
I made it home form work, barely. All was fine, well almost fine throughout the day but towards the end all I wanted was go home and hit the sofa. Driving 45 min in the pouring rain was no fun- sooo tired.
I wanted to get in 10000 steps a day, I simply can't. Can't start the treadmill, cant move my legs. Even typing here takes a lot of effort.
I had hoped that it would get a little bit better with the change in my diet - have my doubts right now. No, I am not quitting. I don't feel like logging, I want to eat, will eat, but can't plan it or do what I had planned. So, a nibble here, a nibble there, all low carb, no sidestepping here. How many cals I will get in, no clue, don't care right now.

Could it be "keto flu"? Have you recently started low carb?

Yes, I started about two weeks ago. I remember having the flue before and it really came like a flue with aching bones and all. This state of mind, the tiredness, is nothing new for the last year or so. As I said, I was hoping it would kind of go away with going back to LC. Well, it is not like that every day, but it hit me really hard today. Guess I call it a day and head to bed.

It comes in waves...don't get discouraged if you can't meet today's goals...tomorrow is a new day!! Life sometimes gets in the way. I can't exercise AT ALL right now, so my weight-loss goals are all food choice oriented. I DO feel much better when I'm on a Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) diet...but there are days when frustration gets the best of me too. It takes 4 to 6 weeks to make or break a habit/lifestyle change, so give yourself a break, take a nice, relaxing bubble bath, and tomorrow reach for your goal of 10,000 steps! :)

Are you getting enough fat? I know if I drop below 70% I don't have the same focus and energy.

If you have any questions or are feeling like quitting, drop me a line. I gained 150 pounds in 9 months from steroids...and poor food choices from being on bedrest and getting down...I used food to make me feel better...all it did was make me fatter...lol. I got up to 340!! I decided that enough was enough ( I was a size 6 my entire adult life, and am determined to get back there)! If you want a "buddy" for support, I'm here for you!!

Thanks everyone for your support. I went straight to bed last night and fell immediately asleep and slept through. I sure needed it. Rckc - maybe I will try going higher in the fat. So far I have been at 60%. It could be a little tricky since I know I also have to watch my calorie intake but a try can't hurt. tickiernikki12 - thank you for your off, much appreciated. The bad thing is that my mind is sooo full of things I want to do and at the same time I can't move. I have learned not to force myself too much everything will go wrong if I do. If I am just a little tired, fine, I might be able to get over it by just doing something. But yesterday - it was like someone had knocked me out. Oh well, today is another day and I will keep on going (had no intention to quit in the first place, was just so annoyed with the tiredness :-) )

I have done LCHF for over a year and try to stay around 1200 calories a day. I also do Intermittent Fasting which I think helps me not go over as I have less hours in the day to eat. It has worked perfectly for me and am rarely hungry.

Yep...increase your fats...I try to keep my ratios at 70 to 75% fats, 20 to 25% proteins and 5% carbs. I know that's low for carbs, but I have a LOT of weight to lose, and am pretty much bedridden and unable to exercise. This ratio works for me, though...

@Rckc - if Igo with 1200 cal I'll be hungry all the time and the chance of fialure is pretty high. I'd rahter go slower with the 1600 cals right now and take it from there. @trickiemikki - as I had mentioned before, if I increase the fat ratio too much I will feel as if I have not enough to eat since the fat takes away all the cals. My body, my habits, I am still adjusting but will keep it in mind for later.

The great thing for me has been with the higher fat I'm not hungry. Also, have you tried intermittent fasting? Lots of info on here about it. The hard thing is finding YOUR sweet spot but it's awesome when you finally do!

Hmmm...the fats that I add...MCT oil or coconut oil to my coffee actually takes away my appetite... I was a BIG snacker...lol, so breaking that habit was HARD...You have to just try different approaches and find the one that works for you. Everyone is different, so what works for one person, doesn't for others. Don't worry...you will find the "magic combo" that works for you! :)

By calculated daily calorie goal is actually 2000 calories a day, but I usually never hit it, I average 1500 to 1700 daily.

Nikki, I didn't snack at all. Of course breakfast was from the time I got up til noon, lunch from noon til five, then supper from five til bedtime. But no snacking, lol!

Let yourself have a day then. Its OK! Listen to your body.. I think of them as sundays... everyone needs a day to totally rest!

Grazing throughout the day (and evening!) while trying to lose weight is an insidious problem. You fool yourself into thinking you are being disciplined, but by the end of the day, it's always surprising how much you sabotaged yourself. Ya gotta break that snacking/grazing habit...the killer of good intentions.

Jozette, sounds like you get worn out during the day at work. When I started drinking a low-carb protein drink for breakfast and another mid-afternoon, my energy level throughout the day was higher and much more even. Once I began to incorporate this as a daily habit, I found I could focus better on eating well at lunch and dinner without succumbing to temptation. Good luck.
