So the plan was to take two weeks off from the diet while I was on vacation and then get back on track when I returned home. The fallacy in this plan is that it's damn hard to get back on track. This has always been my greatest weakness. Once I get a plan established, whether it's calorie-counting, Atkins, whatever... I'm generally pretty good about continuing (until something comes along and knocks me off track). But I've always had a great deal of trouble getting started.

That's kind of where I stand right now. My first two days back went well, but once I got back to work, I've really struggled. One of the problems is that I've had a more difficult time than usual getting over jet lag. I work evenings, so I generally get up between 8:30 and 9:30. Since I've returned, I've been waking up very early -- 2:30, 4:30, 5:00... If I eat breakfast when I wake up, it throws my schedule off for the whole day, and dinnertime comes right in the middle of work. That's lead to getting over-hungry and snacking uncontrollably at work twice in the past three days.

With the weekend finally here, I'm hoping my sleep schedule can get back to normal and my appetite will be easier to control. One thing for sure, though; no more "breaks" until I hit my goal.

I can really see why it would be difficult getting back into the swing of things with your work schedule and jet lag. Once you break the momentum you have going, it's really hard to just start where you left off. I hope you get it all worked out soon. I've just noticed your new bio picture. You're face is a lot more visible in this one! You look like a nice guy in both.
