As it was literally pissing down for three days, I was only able to start week 2 of the C25K program this morning: I run the app on my tablet and obviously the last thing I want is to get it soaked. This time it is 90 seconds of running with 2 minutes of brisk walk inbetween and it felt marginally easier, even though I still get cramps on the outside of my calves about mid-session. I intended to do it early this morning but the app kept crashing and as I had to go out, I could only do it properly at around noon: the app ran smoothly without freezing.

I run in the street where I live and someone from the porch of one of the houses shouted at me 'Keep running! Don't give up!', which is a first, as normally nobody pays attention to me and I have to say I enjoy the lack of attention. I don't know the guy and, as mentally challenged people with behavioural issues are (unfortunately) very common in Hastings, I was wondering if he was taking the piss. It was the end of the session and I was doing the warm down walk before stopping altogether. It turned out he was actually encouraging me as he said he couldn't finish the first run, that I was doing well. I assumed he must have done the same program: I don't use headphones as I want to be able to hear as well as seeing oncoming traffic so the sound on the tablet is on as loud as possible and other people can hear it. We waved at each other and he went inside his house.

While I am unconcerned by this incident, it makes me wonder nonetheless if I should exercise away from where I live, where nobody knows me.
