Maphelo's Journal, 18 August 2023

Gained a lot of weight because of antidepressants and not exercising. At this point I am even afraid to commit to anything because I have failed so many times on this journey and yet if don't do anything, I will gain more and more. I don't know where to start, but I guess Journaling & facing the reality is a good place to start.

gaining 0.2 lb a week

I was in the same place you are not too long ago. the only thing that kept me going is the realisation that if I don't do anything, I'm only making things worse. Journaling is a good start. Posting here or talking to loved ones is also good. I have found that talking to my hubby and people on here provides a good sounding board. Don't give up, keep at it.... we're all on the same journey. Sending you lots of support 💓

I can relate to how you feel. I just want the weight off.. but reality is, it's going to take time, consistency, and a lot of hard work. It helps to take it one day at a time and to plan for the next day, even for a week. Keep on going.......

I’ve failed sticking to my eating habits plenty of times. You can fail ten times and it will change nothing but one success can make your life a lot better. Keep trying for that one success. Good luck!

I've tried and failed, then repeated the process so many times. Right now trying to get back on track for good. Don't give up

Hey Maphelo. I'm on mood stabilising medication. It makes things easier, but I still have depressive slumps that make it difficult to do things. It's good that you're journaling. My advice that has worked for me: Baby steps. Start by walking. As often as possible. Ten to thirty minutes and as time goes by, increase the length of time that you walk to an hour. Listen to music that hypes you up while you walk. You could even use the Zombies, run! app where you listen to a somewhat interactive yet immersive story. On top of that, look at the healthy foods you enjoy eating and in place of the unhealthy stuff, get the healthy stuff you enjoy. Most importantly: Remember that we're all in this together. <3

I hear you, busting my butt, antidepressants is the devil when it comes to weight gain. I’m on a calorie restrict diet (600) and exercising everyday havent even lost 1 kg. But It has to pay off sometime. Good luck
