Wicked Step Monster's Journal, 28 July 2011

I once lost about 100 pounds in 6 months. While it was exciting, I was obbsessed with it. I spent HOURS a day either exercising, counting calories, researching or talking about it. Yet, it never sank in that it was a lifestyle. The only real lifestyle change that happened to me was the break of my fastfood addiction. I believe that for me, giving up fastfood, helped me to be able to not gain back that weight in the first year, verses the 10 it took me to gain it all back. (I now will have it maybe 3 times a year verses at least once a day) The trick for me, was to not add up the calories I consumed with fastfood, but instead, the money I spent every year.($1,820.00)

I am losing this time at a much slower pace. My goal is 10 pounds a month. If I really focus, I can do it. The truth is, I don't want to have to really focus and right now I am not. I am realizing that low carb is the way I should have always eaten. My body and mind respond very well to the elimination of refined carbs. It does not feel like a diet. I do not feel deprived, or like I am doing a "job". I am just living and I happen to have also lost 31 pounds. I have 8 more days to lose my 10 pounds for the month and I probably wont. In the past, if I would have not hit my mini goals, or, if I would have had a slip up, I would have been devistated to the point of quiting. I would have obbsessed with the false idea that I had failed. I am so beyond that now.

I guess I am realizing that this is a lifestyle and not a diet that I am doing temporarily. Just like 10 years ago I realized that I wanted to spend my $1,820.00 a year on something other then Jumbo Jacks with cheese and a large fry. I now know that I am allergic to certain foods and I need to avoid them. The weightloss is just a bonus.

Hi there! 100 lbs in 6 months is awesome but slower is definitely a better way to go. You are doing awesome with your already 31lb loss. Keep up the good work!

It is amazing I feel exactly like you, this is a journey we are all taking and there is no end, once we reach where we are going, we will just keep going to make sure we stay right there. Being healthy and staying healthy is the only way. I know carbs are not good for me at all. I don't crave what I used to crave at all, if I do it is for a very short time and yes I get right over it. I love this new life of mine.
