Jody72's Journal, 19 June 2011

This week I'm going to stop obsessing about what I'm eating. I'm going to start this by NOT recording everything that I eat. I think I get it, it's not about what I'm eating right now. It can't be when I'm eating under 1200 calories in a day, working out and still not losing as much weight as I'd like or worse yet gaining. I do have hypothyroidism. I'm trying not to use it as a crutch, but it seems part of my problem in the past was with energy levels. It could be quite possible that because of low energy levels I didn't move as much and lost a lot of muscle. So building muscle is my new focus.

Starting on Monday and on thru Friday, I'm going to follow this exercise schedule:

Julian Michaels' 30 day shred---aprox 30 minutes. Then, 30 minutes on the elliptical program 2 (pyramids). Then, 45 or more minutes of Kundalini Yoga (stretching and toning).

It's going to be about 2 hours of me time focusing on being more active and building muscle. Hopefully after a few weeks of working out like this I will be able to eat a 1200 calorie diet with out gaining weight.

On the weekend I'm going to do some fun recreational activities with the family like bike riding, hiking, golf, going out in our pedal boat that we are suppose to get today.

I was also thinking that all these "trainers" and "doctors" suggest taking a day of rest and I have to disagree with this because when I look at how fit I was as a child and looking at my own children and other children, they are fit because they play hard. They don't say "oh I played 5 days in a row, I think I need to take a break today and just watch TV". =)They go out and play some more and that is how they stay thin and fit. Somewhere, perhaps in my teenage years, I decided that adults don't play and therefore I should stop playing. I decided that adults walk slow, so I started walking slow. I'm turning that those agreements around and I'm deciding that adults do play, and adults walk fast. I'm not taking a day of rest to be lazy and sit around. My muscles can repair themselves just like they used to when I was kid... When I was sleeping.

Diet Calendar Entry for 19 June 2011:
1937 kcal Activities & Exercise: Bicycling (leisurely) - <10/mph - 2 hours, Resting - 14 hours, Sleeping - 8 hours. more...
