I began calorie counting again yesterday. At first I thought it was easy-peasy when it came to dinner with a soft drink and dessert... 100 g of New York cheesecake seemed like nothing to me but I kept strong. Later at night, as I was reading in bed, I thought of food but then told myself my body was already using up stored fat to make up for the energy it needed.

I have been feeling very low. It started before Christmas. I had no wish to do anything and was dragging my feet (literally, as I got lymphedema which has now attacked the back of the knees.) I don't sleep well, am in pain most of the time, but at least I now have a carer and it helps to see a friendly face 4 times a week, to talk a bit and of course the practical assistance is invaluable.

I joined a lymphedema group but it is a major downer as I see cases worse than me which started off simply - I dread what the future holds, knowing that doctors do not care to help. Only I can help myself. It is no use crying over lost time. I was doing so well a few years ago, before I met my ex partner and settled down... settled, what an ugly word!
