jb13236's Journal, 20 April 2011

I'm feeling a little lost. FatSecret seems to think I should be eating 2800 calories a day. Nutrition.about.com thinks that many calories will allow me to maintain my current weight indefinitely. A lot of my co-workers (remember, we're all doing a diet together) are eating a LOT less, but they're also a LOT smaller than I am.

So what's the deal? Am I going to have to break down and actually go see a professional person? Or can I trust the internet and app store to provide me with reliable info?

Because I've been gaining the last couple days, and because I'm totally freaked out because I seem to be eating SO much more than usual, I readjusted my my RDI again this week, down from 2300 to an almost average (man's) 2100. And I'm not starving. But I'm also sick.

I don't know what to do! lol. It's really not that big of a deal, but it is something that's worrying me. What if I'm doing this wrong? What if I keep gaining? And how is that possible if I've been within 10% of my RDI of 2300 (500 cal LESS than what this very website suggests I eat)???

Speaking only for myself, if I ate 2800 cals a day, I'd be big as a barn! I think when I started, FatSecret set my RDI at 2000 or so. I think it automatically sets you to a maintenance amount. That's not Tech Support, just my observation! If it were me, I'd reset your RDI at least 500 lower. Just a thought...but if you're eating more & gaining I'd think some recalculation is in order!
