fatbgone2's Journal, 19 May 2009

I am training to run a 5k by the end of summer, and today was able to run 20/30 minutes. My left knee bothered me more than anything. I wasn't short of breath or to tired...so I hope this is just my body adjusting to a new type of exercise. It seemed to help with stretching before and halfway through...so we will see

As you said, it's probably just your body adjusting. The important thing is you take your time and listen to your body. Like you, I also use to have leg pains as well as respitory problems when I first started running. What helped me was when I felt pain I would stop and give myself a day or two of rest. I could barely run 2 blocks when I started but now I'm doing 5k, 10k, and will be doing a half marathon later this year. So again, take your time and listen to your body. If you feel you can go a little longer and further, make sure you be safe and don't hurt yourself. You want make running a fun exercise, not a chore. I wish you well buddy.
