Heading over to DS#6's house. DS#4 and GoodMan plan to help him put up his big screen TV in time to watch the U of M football game this evening. I made a 9x13 pan of a Mexican layer dip that I usually make for game time snacking. I entered the ingredients on a website that calculates the nutritional information ...WOWzers! A serving of that (the size servings we usually have) has practically my full day's RDI WITHOUT the chips! Soooo I'm taking some hummus and Wheat Thins high fiber crackers for me. I know hummus has a lot of calories, but NOTHING like my layer dip, and I like hummus so it will be a treat. I promise (My right hand over my heart) not to make that calorie-overload casserole Mexican dip again so I don't cause my family to have future weight issues!

I also tried a new recipe for a spaghetti squash casserole. I will finish baking it when I get to their house. It looks good and the nutritional web site says it has 148 calories per cup. It's a delicate balance, trying to plan healthy food, while making sure I don't feel too deprived.

On another topic ~ they are literally coming out of the woodwork...MICE! Since DS#6 and his gang moved out last weekend we have caught 5 mice!! And today we've seen at least one mouse baby wandering around. I think we caught the big ones easily because there is now no food laying around the house - no matter how hard I tried I couldn't keep up with all the goldfish crackers, cereal, crumbs, etc. Now that it is just the two of us the critters have to go for the food on the traps. And now that the adult mice are (hopefully) gone we are seeing baby mice. The thing is, baby mice are stupid. They don't know enough to be afraid of us (like I am of them).

Years ago, DS#1 had a gerbil. It got out of its cage one night and I woke up to find it in my bed! Perhaps my fears are irrational, but baby mice seem just stupid enough to try something like the gerbil...OOOMMM (fingers in pinched meditation position)...OOOMMM...I am big...they are small...OOOMMM...they cannot hurt me...I can KILL them...OOOMMM...they should be afraid of me...I AM AFRAID OF THEM...oh heck, that didn't work!
