Was the third week just as challenging?

The first couple of days were, but I hit a stride mid-week, so that the last several were still challenging - just not brutal.

I still have yet to see how Core Synergistics can be considered 'recovery'.

I haven't done Core Synergistics yet...the first day of that is tomorrow. My co-worker who talked me into doing P90X was telling me to enjoy Core as well...you all are starting to scare me here :)

Great job nimm... you are going to be ripped by the time the 90 days are done. And thanks for the opinion on the bmf. I read through your journal starting with just getting the bmf... I still have mixed feelings. I wonder if a heartbeat monitor that spits out a calorie estimate would be what I'm really after. I just want to get an accurate picture of what I'm burning during my workouts. I sweat so much and my current heartbeat monitor shows that I'm really working hard.. over 80% of my max heart rate for five hours a week. According to some charts that's 600 to 1000 cals a sessions...

I just finished week 3 of P90X also. Starting "recovery" week tomorrow, but starting to get a cold so yuck. I hope you are doing well and it's working for you. I'm finding the eating part a lot harder than making myself do the workouts. I'm doing the lean version though and once I'm done with 90 days of this I'm going to do classic. Good luck! Hope you enjoyed core!!

Core synergistics isn't incredibly hard. If you can handle the other workouts you can do that! Let me know what you think!

@radiochick- Thanks for the encouragement. I dunno about "ripped," but if I can get at least a little stronger, I'll be happy. Any cosmetic improvements are a welcome bonus, but I will keep the expectations in line :) As far as a heartbeat monitor - from the reading I did comparing different consumer-grade calorimeters, the BMF seems to test the most accurate, which I can't really square with my experience (unless it really is correct, or I'm an unusual case). But supposedly pedometers, accelerometers, and heartrate monitors don't give any less rough of an estimate. You will still get useful info though, to make sure you're in the right zone when you're doing cardio...

@mars2kids - Good luck to you too :) When I started P90X, I had already cardio-ed off most of the body fat I was looking to lose, so I didn't go through the "Fat Shredder" diet phase (and I don't think I could have if I tried - I just can't function restricting my carbs to 20% of the calories). But since my diet was already similar to the "Phase 2" - roughly 40/35/25 - I just stuck with what I was doing. If you're doing Fat Shredder, I think you'll find the next stage a lot easier.

@astraea82 - That's good to hear :) I'm sure I'll update here with how it goes!
