Well this last week I turned 30. I was absolutely depressed. Didn't help that it ended up being that time of the month either. I craved chocolate so bad I ended up giving in. I was also actually hungry... hungry enough to go over my calorie count a few days. My mom told me to stop beating myself up over it. Now I understand why I used to feel like I'd gained ten pounds every month, I retain a lot of water. I'm starting to feel a lot better now.

I haven't been back to the rec center since week before. It really hasn't interested me that much being there. I used to think that if I could go out and be able to socialize while working out it would be fun but it wasn't for me. I put in my ear phones and concentrate on what I am doing. It doesn't leave much time for being social. The fact that there really isn't very much variety in the equipment available doesn't help either or that sometimes you have to wait to be able to use what you want or that they let the kids from the school be there in large groups I found to be very distracting... ok enough ranting.

I've found that being home and just riding the stationary bike and doing yoga is fun. I am so enjoying the yoga I wish I had started much sooner. I've had at least one dvd sitting around for two years and never bothered till I entered the yoga everyday challenge. Now I have three yoga dvds and I'm considering a couple more just to have variety. I did a yoga pm practice last night before bed. I was asleep within two minutes of hitting the pillow and I also slept amazingly well.

I also have many more workout dvds that I'd like to get started working on but that is hard to do. I babysit for my nephew four days out of the week and He and my sister live with me. The only time I find to workout is after 9pm. The only workout I don't vary is riding the stationary bike. With doing yoga everyday it definitely doesn't leave much time. I try to sneak some workout in when/if I can get him to nap. Otherwise, he tries to workout with me, he is so cute. He walked in while I was doing bridge pose the other day and tried to do it with me, ended up knocking me down we laugh so hard. I haven't gotten around to the pilates yet but I will. I also just got a dvd for qigong I want to start that this week. The hoopnotica hoop has been abandoned probably forever =(

Anyway I think I'm going to enjoy some of the random fun challenges I've joined besides the yoga today was was the first day of AM dancing fun fun fun. I love to dance! I wish there were more challenges like that. I also wish more challenges required checking in daily that really helps keep me on the right track.

I'm off for now... maybe to search new challenges on my way to the trusty old stationary bike!

When I turned 40 I was really depressed too. I guess I went on about it so much that one friend told me he could not wait for me to be 41. I was shocked and asked him "Why?" and he said, "So you will quit whining about being 40!" :-) I hope you will feel better about your birthday; after all, it is better than the alternative. It sounds like you are getting into the exercise thing. That's good. I really needed to be more consistent when I was younger, so good for you for starting early. Oh, and happy birthday. Mine was this week too. So happy birthday to us!
