If it is the Dukan, I just read about it in a magazine at noon when I was waiting for my massage. It is the same principle as Atkins only it states you can have unlimited protein and good fat (ie cream, mayonaise, greek yogourt) and all vegetables grown above the ground. There are no phases like Atkins, you just stay on this and stay at 20 carbs until you hit your goal.

S0786, yes I have and was on it from the recommendation of a beautiful 60 year old woman who successfully lost 45 pounds on it and has continued to follow the Dukan diet for the past 3 years. I was on it for 5 weeks and I found it amazing for weight loss, very easy to follow and I had a ton of energy. Would have loved to have stayed on it, but I am a horrendous carb addict, so the higher carb allowance had me constantly fighting my carb craving/addiction. Ultimately I went right over the edge and am now back on Atkins where I know I belong. For those that it suits, it is a super for weight loss and maintenance is easy! Good luck!

That is totally incorrect information, Minzees Momma. Atkins is a low carb/ high fat diet while Dukan is a high protien/ low fat diet. And yes, Dukan most certainly has phases - 4 in fact. The first is the attack phase, a pure protein diet from 2 to 7 days, followed by Cruise which is an alternating one day of pure protein / one day of protein & vegetable, next is Consolidation followed by Permanent Stabilization. I recommend anyone interested read "the Dukan Diet" by Dr. Pierre Dukan, and check out dukandiet.com or pierredukan.com for helpful information. I also own "the Dukan Diet Cookbook" which I thoroughly enjoyed. The recipes as wonderful. As I said, I loved the diet, just found the higher carb allowances triggered my cravings. OP hope this helps!

Mamadukes6 - thank you so much for the clarification. I apologize if I have mislead anyone!!

Absolutely no apology needed, Mitzees Momma! Unfortunately I, too, have read many such articles that misinformed rather than informed and supported those of us searching for help in our quest to shed pounds. I find it so disheartening to read erroneous statements masquerading as facts whose purpose is only to sell magazines or increase site traffic. It's hard enough being overweight and wanting to desperately change it - we don't need to be faced with information that makes our weight loss journey harder!
