All things food and diet...11 days ago I decided to begin my life anew. Not so much material wise, but with my body, and my Lord. So this isn't about all things food and diet, this is about a change for life, a change for eternity.
I began following a program called Strength For Life, by Shawn Phillips eleven days ago. The program has a 12 day reboot phase, where you slow down, eat better, and exercise minimally, then a 12 week transformation phase where you really kick it into gear, then a forever stage where you learn to keep your progress in tact. I am still in the reboot phase so I am eating healthier and doing only three main exercises every other day. It seems too easy...but I have already lost 14 pounds. I didn't think I would loose anything until the transformation stage. But I learned two things...Until you write down EVERYTHING you eat, you do not realize what all you are putting into your body. If you bite it, you write it. And second, with man, all sacrificial things are impossible, but with the Lord, ALL things are possible. I am very encouraged by Lysa Terkeurst and her book Made to Crave. Here, she is teaching me to crave the Lord, not the food. What a difference. Now when I see a cake, and I almost reach out for it, I know what I am really reaching out for is my bible.
I have yo/yo dieted for most of my adult life, and never lost more than 10 pounds...and I always gained it right back. I was never able to stick to the diet. Cheated here and there, one bite won't hurt. But then that turns to two bites and then I feel so bad that I have dumped my program all together. So, to see the combination between changing my eating habits and craving the Lord I have lost 14 pounds in 11 days...I'm amazed, encouraged, and motivated. Monday I begin the transformation phase, and I have also joined the Biggest Loser challenge. Good things to come, great things to achieve.
