Stopped smoking 8 weeks ago, after 12 years of heavy smoking. I did the cold turkey, so far so good, however, I started to gain weight. I researched properly, and it says everywhere that gaining weight is "normal" and one should just accept it, do some sport and after "approx. 3(!) years my body will finally reach its normal weight again. So, the reward for stopping smoking is so far that I get fat, (never been so big) , feel slow, without energy, and sleepy all the time. And before you start; I'm vegetarian since years, have a healthy diet, eat balanced, and do work out, and move a lot (over 10.000 steps a day-counting all the time). I really CAN NOT accept that getting smoke free means gaining weight, so I'll try with counting calories and changing my diet (again) to balancing it out. Stopping smoking is hard enough.. Now I have to change my whole eating habits again in order not to look like a stranded whale or Bridget Jones..
Let the fun begin!
