It's technically 1/9/11, but I am writing for yesterday, which was really only 20 minutes ago...

I was nervous about today. The kids had today off of school, so I was nervous about not breaking the habit I am starting, and I was nervous about what taking all of the kids would do to my workout. Turns out it really didn't go bad at all! We go walking with the kids a lot. There is a dam nearby that we take them to, but usually I wind up becoming the "coat holder" because they are to hot, or when they get tired I am the one to slow down for them, so I was worried that I wouldn't get much in. I'm not sure how far we walked because my husbands iphone recorder thingy was on the fritz, but it was a really good distance, for an hour and at a great pace that I have gotten used to over the last week. The kids were very energized today so no whining or lagging behind! Although I did become the coat rack as usual, I was just happy to be getting in what I needed.

The one thing that is doing me in is shin splints... I have always gotten shin splints, as far back as middle school. It doesn't seem to matter how much I weigh, I just always get them whenever I push it pretty hard. These last three days I have pushed it pretty hard and I had some pretty painful shin splints from it. I read up that if the muscles on the front side of the leg are weaker than the calf that it puts undue stress on the tibia and hence the shin splints. It makes sense. My muscles are pretty weak this month from the mito.

So, a little ice, a little heat, a day of rest for church, and we will back on track first thing Monday after I take the girls to school.

Wanna know what I did to help out today? My husband fixed burgers for lunch. Instead of using mayonaise, ketchup and cheese as per usual, I used a small portion of avocado and a tomato! And instead of using buns we found these flat breads that look just like buns!! The bread alone shaved off 100 calories! And oh was it good!! I will dare to say it was better tasting than the usual fixings!

Well, signing off to sleep... Have to get up early to take Eric to rehearsal, and I know what lack of sleep does to my metabolism.....
Nighty-nite!
