I'm currently starting on my cardio - 30mins on elpitical and climbing the stairs at work (5 stories twicce a day up/down). Can use some help in the form of diet choices - right now I'm just cutting back on junk food and carbs and adding more vegs.

I'd suggest logging your diet for a good week first before trying to make changes. Get into the practice of logging it first and then start making changes.
