Business lunch..Ouch.. today I had a business lunch. I live in Lebanon where a typical Lebanese restaurant offers the following foods commonly known as "mezza": 3 types of salads with lots of extra virgin oil 5 to 8 types of cold appetizers 3 to 5 types of hot appetizers Then comes the main dish which is grilled beef or lamb on the skewer plus grilled chicken breast cubes marinated in garlic and mayonnaise Then comes the desert..fresh fruits (6 to 8 types) and other middle eastern sweets.
Not to forgot the ARAK..an alcoholic drink similar to the greek ouzo.
Most appetizers are eaten with Pita bread (freshly baked from the oven inside the restaurant)
I am sure, those of you who are reading this, just gained 3 kilograms because of it.
I knew this was coming...So, I had my usual very small breakfast just to be able to take my blood-pressure medicine.
Lunch cost me 2,700 calories ALONE.
I am skipping dinner (I still have NOT digested lunch).
Came back from lunch..took a small nap..then came the yard work in my garden. 2 hours until sunset...
Results of the day: a caloric deficit of about 1,000 calories.
Tomorrow, I have a business dinner at a similar restaurant....I guess I will be eating lettuce, tomato, cucumber salad with balsamic vinegar for lunch.
