Sandy701's Journal, 27 August 2013

Today is the release date for the book, "Cholesterol Clarity" by Jimmy Moore and Dr. Eric Westman. I've been anxiously awaiting this book so I need to place my order this afternoon. I think it should have excellent info....exactly what I've been looking for.

The past 3 days I haven't logged my dinners. DH and I had a fantastic dinner at a seafood restaurant on Saturday night, then had dinner at a couple's home on Sunday, and last night I had my seafood leftovers from Saturday. The dinner at the couple's home was low-carb in some respects, but then a few things were automatically set out for me on my plate. It was still a CHOICE....I could politely decline and set my plate aside.....I could smush things around but not eat them...I could eat a small portion of it.....or I could just eat it and deal with the consequences. I've done all these things in other circumstances, depending on the situation. I took the easy way out in this situation and just ate the items. This was a couple I had not met before, had never been in their home, and they had already altered the salad part of the menu to (try to)accommodate low-carb.

For those of you who have a strong faith in God, I'm asking for some prayers for my sister as she's going through a very serious relationship breakup right now. She's emotionally fragile and was in a very dark place yesterday. LOTS of red flags were coming up in her emails. I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with her last night....when she finally took my call. I live several states away from her, so I can't run over to her home and be there physically. I felt better after talking with her (really scared me when I couldn't get her to answer the phone) and I "think" the immediate crisis is averted. Yes, she's been getting some professional help previous to this and is trying to get an appointment before her next scheduled one.

Thanks Bren. My sister sounded better tonight and had done some things today that are encouraging. Please continue those prayers, though, as I have a strong suspicion this will be a longer-term struggle, not one that can be solved in a day.....or two. :(

Sounds like you handled the food situation perfectly - you have to judge each situation on its merits and act accordingly. Sorry to hear about your sister. It's so hard when you don't live close. Hope she is doing better. It takes time but it's a hard place to be.

Issy, it's especially hard on my sister because the guy still makes contact from time to time! Just when she tries to move on, he contacts her to profess his love....although he still wants to be broken up. That's just plain cruel.

Many prayers for your sister that she finds her strength and her self worth. She's lucky to have a sister like you, Sandy!

Thanks Heather. That link between sisters just can't be duplicated, can it? She's really quite amazing and exceptionally successful and smart, yet something like this breakup can wipe away all her self-worth - in HER mind.
