Ground beef - I measured and cut it raw. Is 8 oz. the same or less after cooking? How do I record it accurately? I formed it into a hamburger, cooked it on the stove, and ate it without a bun.

Edit: My son just made another hamburger with my pre-measured ground beef and cooked weight is 4 oz. Again, which way do I record it correctly?

Lokk up ground beef in the database. Most entries list it by percentage of fat/meat, and then by 1 oz increments. Change the oz amount to whatever you premeasured raw, and add that entry to your food diary. You can do the same with cooked ground beef, just look at the cooked choices in the pulldown menus of the individual entries in the food database. I hope that made sense!

I'm sorry, but that does not make sense. It sounds like you're advising me to enter it twice, once each for raw and finished.

I was attempting to point out that you can either enter it raw from your precooked amount, or you can entered it cooked from your son's measurement after cooking. To make it easy on yourself: measure it raw, enter it into your food diary from the database in the raw amount using the pulldown menus and in the correct meat to fat percentage (80/20, 85/15, etc) and in the correct amount of ounces raw. Don't worry about the weight AFTER cooking your ground beef. ;)
