Ok, its day 3 of the raw diet. Still sticking to it reasonably well. I made a "living lasagna" last night that was a complete bust, so I ended up having a salad. I had a container of gorganzola cheese that I wanted to use up in the frige, so I ended up polishing that off by sprinkling it on my salad. Maybe an ounce or so. I have been playing with making raw desserts...Actually, quite yummy. I've made raw chocolate mousse and lemon poppyseed icecream cake. I switched to non-diry milk nearly a year ago, so Im already accustomed to the nut milks and such. I havent tried dehydrating or fermenting yet (mostly because I have no dehydrator).

I had a Pre-Op Dr appointment yesterday during lunch, and I realized I was about to pull into Taco Bell to grab a quick lunch in between trips between the Dr Office and Hospital for blood work. It dawned on me I cant just pull in to fast food anymore :S
Its like quitting smoking... you instinctivly grab that cig and light up before you realize you've done it. I had my blinker on, ready to turn into the drive thru... wow.

I quit tracking my foods on the Diet Calendar. Wayyyyy to hard to document the amount of little ingredients here and there. The recipes are simple, but its a lot of this and that all blended up. I guess I can still put in my whole fruits and salad greens, but it wont be a true reflection of everything I've eaten.

WOW for you catching yourself mid Taco Bell trip. That was great. Very proud of you. I don't think I have the drive you do when it comes to your 'raw diet' and your non-dairy milk. You give me inspiration. Thank you and I pray your medical procedure goes well and you heal quickly.

The milk thing came about from hardly drinking milk. I started couponing and could buy shelf stable almond milk cheaper than regular milk, so I stocked up on it. I love milk, I still drink it when I have it in the house, but its so rare that I used it that most of it would spoil before it got used. My boyfriend drinks a gallon of the stuff every couple days...craziness. The raw diet has been fun so far. I feel like I'm pre-occupied with creating recipes, that I haven't really missed other foods too much... so far. I know the beast will catch up with me soon. Thank you for your prayers on surgery. Its a pretty routine thing. I have some female polyps that are being removed by D&C. I've been living with heavy cycles for 5 years and was starting to turn anemic. It was something I had to do and I've been putting it off. Doc says I should be off one or two days and back to work as usual by Wednesday or Thursday.

I have sever anemia, so I understand how you feel when that kicks in. I can't do anything to change mine though. I have RA and it's in my bone marrow so I have no way to absorb the iron my blood needs. I'm glad that it will be a fairly routine procedure. I will still keep you in my prayers. I've been kinda scared to try almond milk or things like that, Maybe i should put up or shut up in that department.. LOL

Coconut milk is my favorite. Its very lite and mildly sweet. The almond milk is really good, but the consistency of it seems weird to me. Soy milk is ok, but not my fav. Hemp milk is really good for mixing in stuff for its great nutrient properties. I have a carton of sunflower milk in the frige I havent opened and tried yet. I've been trying all the different nut milks to see if I find one I really like.
