Nancy Mathis's Journal, 17 October 2007

Today 10-17-07 I'm 13 lbs. above my goal weight of 140. I've been a member of Weight Watchers since 1978 having lost 91 lbs. and becoming a life time member. I've gained and lost several times since 1979. At my tender age of 64 I decided I was sick and tired of taking pills every night for sugar, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I quick taking the pills and went back to Weight Watchers on January 24, 2006. I reached WW goal weight of 150 on August 15,2006. I went on to lose another 10 lbs.

Problem? May, 2007 as a closet smoker, I quit smoking completely. My appetite is ferocious and I need some encouraging words to help get these 13 lbs. off for good. I'm cruising December 3 and I know my clothes want fit if I keep this up.

Hello Granny Nan: Make a plan to ramp up your exercise and find ways to keep your hands busy so you don't go back to mindless eating. Working out helps me feel the sore nmuscles and its a reminder throughout the day to behave my way to success. Good Luck and have fun on your cruise. I love cruising. Mel

Hang in there Granny Nan....Good for you for quitting smoking, I know it's hard to do....find another habit to replace the smoking...they say when you give up one habit you should replace it with another (good) one...to keep you occupied so you don't think of food! You know Weight Watchers works and I'm really rooting for you to reach your goal before your cruise!! When you get hungry try Campbell's Chunky Savory Vegetable Soup...it has 4 grams of dietary fiber...1 cup is right on the line between 1 and 2 points...so I will eat the whole can..1 cup hits the spot between meals or eat the whole thing for lunch..it tastes good too! GOOD LUCK!

Waffles and Melglad - thanks for the tips. I have started my walking program again since the weather in the good ole south has broken it's 90+ degree days. Soup - I'll try it. Also, if you have not tried the Progreso soups - they are zero WW points. Thanks so much gals!
