just tired of this body i am stuck in. i want to be able to move and i have always thought it's just too much to do, to difficult. so here i am 41 and in decent health but i have the beginnings of arthritis and high blood pressure and fatigue and i have 2 little boys that i want to do things with and a daughter i want to help mature into a woman. i am tired of being afraid of dying because of the crap i put in my mouth. so no more thinking its to much - i have to move, i have to try to improve. this is not a temporary change and i know it will not be easy but it can be done! i keep thinking how great it felt to take control of my life back after my marriage and then after another failed relationship which was more heartbreaking than my marriage failing - how awesome it feels to step up and take care of myself and my kids and do it well - i was told i couldnt go to college but i did and i was successful, i was told i could not make it on my own and i did and i am succeeding, i was told my whole life i am fat - and i am fat but that isn't who i am its the condition i am in - i am changing that condition one bite at a time one choice at a time one day at a time and i may cry along the way and i may get angry along the way and people may say i cant do it i waited to long i am 41 and i can and i will! watch

You can do it! Just get up every morning and say "I can do this!" Everytime you feel frustrated and discouraged, just keep repeating "I think I can I think I can". If you have small children, then I'm sure you've read the book "The Little Engine that Could". It's a great motivator.

Shajoy, you can do this!!!!! I am 59 and have also been overweight. For the first time in 10 years I am making a change and it feels soooooooo good. I love the fatsecret tracking, it is a wonderful tool for me. I am doing 1500 calories a day and keeping my carbs at 200 max. That means lots of vegetables, fruits (don't be afraid to eat 3 a day) and for me lots of protein . I am a meat eater and that makes me go over in my fat column but the fats are much healthier than I ate before. Lots of chicken, seafood and beans are good. I am and have always been a big salad eater and have found a salad dressing that has no carbs, sugars, calories or fat in it and I use it freely and enjoy my salads. It is Walden Farms, I found 1 flavor in my grocery store but found many more on line. you are still so young and it is a good age to grab control of your life and change those eating habits. your children will slowly learn from you as well. please hang in there and make this all about you not your past you. Even if you were in a good relationship right now you would still have to control that part of you, so be selfish and put your health first this time. Prayer works in your favor too....

I think you're so awesome for stepping up to the challenge! Start small maybe? Something ike give up soda and drinks w calories at first? One of my GFs did that and she lost 24lbs :) Or swearing off fast food maybe if that's a problem for you. Baby-steps to healthier eating will probably be easier to handle than trying to do it all right off the bat. Women's Health mag has some good success stories if you need motivation. :) Good luck to you!!

There was a time I also didn't believe I could get healthier. I am 44 lbs. lighter at this point in my life at 49 and healthier than I was in my 20's and 30's. It's never too late.

Shajoy71 great wait to start!!! I agree with NC Nicole start small. Soda's can make a HUGE difference. You can substitute the drink with the flavor packs. I look forward to us doing our 12 week challenge together!!

I agree with Nc nicole. whenever I tried to do "it all" at first, I usually got discouraged. Great idea to start with one or two changes and each week or two add another change to it. It will get easier and you will feel so good with yourself. keep talking back to us, it helps.
