ReneeisHealthy's Journal, 13 March 2013

Alright, here I go again! A couple of weeks ago, I started the Atkins diet and began a series of colon cleanses in an effort to get fit. I include a few days of walking each week and am ready to do this for a lifetime. Type 2 Diabetes runs in my family and I want to avoid going through what I have seen so many others in my family go through. I've decided to give up white flour and sugar. I also am no longer doing white potatoes. I've since added a few more 'good' carbs, but think I still need to cut back some.

I'm ready to change my life and I belief this is the way to go!

What kind of cleanse did you do and did you like it?

Amber, I am visiting a hydrotherapist who hooks me up to a machine and flushes my large intestine. I will undergo this for a few months, every few weeks to help undo the damage of the Standard American Diet on my colon. I feel great and the cleanses have been emotionally therapeutic as well.

Just wanted to mention a few other things that I do: take two tablespoons of chlorella with water on an empty stomach each morning; add a heaping tablespoon of powdered superfood in all protein shakes; sip lemon water throughout the day; take digestive enzymes with the evening meal, take probiotics to replenish good flora after colonics; take cascara sagrada, a non habit-forming herb, to help to break down the walls of the large intestine and to stay regular! Elimination is as important as what you put in your mouth!

The superfood is usually sold in health food stores. It can have anything in it from beans to collards, but in powdered form. The idea is that in getting all these nutrients, your body gets fed and is less hungry. Chlorella is an algae that is usually included as a superfood, but also sold alone. It is a cleanser and helps to remove metals in your system. Good for cleansing and feeding the body. Helps with bad breath, especially when dieting, pimples, healing, immune deficiency, cleaning out the digestive track, etc. Any superfood that you add to a diet shake will help to feed your body, prevent cravings, and provide energy for exercise. Water where I live is bitter. Adding chlorella gives it a sweeter, mintier taste. If you don't like the chlorella alone, add a crystal light packet and it'll be like drinking kool aid. The key for me is to STOP the cravings for sweets and quick high carb snacks! If all else fails, I take an Aleve and that calms the hunger. Fat people are usually hungry people. For me it's not even just about eating. Most happy moments in my marriage and life revolve around food. I have to reprogram my mind and not being hungry helps me to do that. I love to have fun and illicit sex is just too dangerous -- LOL!
