So with advice from a friend I decided to do the General Motors 7-day detox diet. As of now I am on day 3 and lost 3.5 pounds. I know that most of that is probably water weight but it seems like it is a good way to jump start a diet. I've done paleo before, and when I was on it, it was the best I've felt physically in my life. I was 4 pounds away from my goal weight, and felt physically strong as well as confident. I didn't mean to stop being paleo just got caught up in going out, life, and also go out of running as often. Gained 17 pounds back. ugh.

I run a lot 3 times a week about 5 miles each time. A friend and I have a goal of running 10-15 miles a week. Since the general motors diet calls for a pretty extreme cut in calories I decided to take this week off from running.

I went to the grocery store the night before and prepped the so Below is a break down of my first two days.

Day 1: Any fruits besides bananas and the soup- Morning I woke up and had a big bowl of fruit. Through out the day i was snacking on strawberries, blackberries, pears etc. And of course the vegetable soup. I don't know if this was because it was day one or the foods i was allowed to eat, but i did feel light-headed a few times this day. Drinking coffee and A LOT of water seemed to help.

Day 2: Any Vegetable and Soup. Also baked potato for dinner. Started the day off with canned beets. I spit them out, disgusting. So I had spicy vegetable soup for breakfast. Lunch was spinach and Brussels sprouts, celery and more soup. I know that sounds like nothing but I had a ton of Brussels sprouts (which a pretty filling)and the soup as well. Dinner was the baked potato. It surprisingly made me very full. This is where I may change if i do this diet again. Some websites said to have the potato for breakfast and others for dinner. Next time I will have it for breakfast, as it left me feeling full and energized from the carbs. I wasn't as hungry this day and didn't feel as light headed as day 1.

Day 3: Any Fruits (except bananas) and Vegetables plus the soup: Today woke up, went to work and am now sitting at my desk eating my bowl of fruit. And unlike day 1, I am unable to consume the whole thing. I love fruit, I just feel full already. I'll be back to finish the update of today.

So far the keys I've learned:

Drink a lot of water. Ive been drinking probably 5 of my Nalgene bottles a day. It's a 32oz bottle. I'm just always thirsty.

Coffee and Tea:
Help with the hunger pains and also give you that boost of caffeine if you feel light headed.

PREPARATION:
this is by far the most important thing. Having the foods on hand so you don't cheat. Each night I have been spending around half hour preparing the next days meals. The soup I made in a big pot and it is lasting about 3 1/2 days, So I need to make another batch tonight. Preparing the vegetables the night before is key, as well as having all the fruit on hand.
