Girl_Illa's Journal, 25 April 2008

I have windows open this morning as I do my deskwork! It started yesterday afternoon, when I decided to do some conditioning exercise, and it was so warm I had to open a window! Last week, we were still using heat--I'm NOT turning on the A/C yet!!! Even though my allergies hate all the pollen in the orchard, I love walking the dog among all the blossoming fruit trees--apples, peaches and pears. The redbud trees, lilac bushes, etc all full of color. I LOVE spring!

J has started new work hours, where he works 11AM to 4PM, then 8PM to 11PM. Then he is off on Fridays. He works 3 hours from our home, and we have an apt there. But I struggle between being with him every day, and taking care of our home and his mom who lives next door. I tend to try to do both, and it keeps me off balance and off any real schedule. But m-i-l is beginning to lose ground, and her heart is getting weaker, which makes me feel like she needs me here more. SO--J drove home after 11PM last night, arriving at 1AM. This is going to be our weekends for awhile. I just get a little nervous that he will either fall asleep at the wheel or encounter a drunk driver. Oh, for the simple life!!!! But this is where I fight emotional/mindless eating. I am really working on finding something better to do!!

could you call him on the drive to keep him awake...i understand the night time eating...about a year ago i read that people who eat at night have a late metabolism...which means that it lays low during the primary part of the day and kicks in in the afternoon...knowing this, i have adjusted our dinner time to after 7...i do not eat after that and i don't want too...might be worth trying...

I too am a combat worry warrior! I can completely understand the holding the breathe, pacing, praying, and praying some more until they arrive safely at the door. It's genetic, I believe! lol My mom honestly believes that when she worries more and obsesses about things that it always makes things better and turn out ok. OH brother! I have to fight from watching her do this as a child and not to mimic her, too. TEA!! lol A nice cup of hot tea is relaxing and I like the flavored green teas, they are yummy and good for ya! Keep up the great work... I think I'll join ya a bit later and open my windows when it's a bit warmer outside. Have a great day!

I don't outwardly worry--I eat the worry, I think. I don't pace the floor, although I do pray and ask God to send angels to accompany him and keep him safe. But then I seem to go into unconscious mode, and that's when things find their way into my mouth!! The good news is: first noticing and acknowledging a problem is the first step to changing/resolving it. At least, that's my theory!

You're juggling a lot of things. And J's work schedule is nasty! Hope everything works out for you. I agree with BT about the tea. It really does help. Hang in there!
