From Mark Lauren's book "You Are Your Own Gym: The Bible of Bodyweight Exercises" I read, "Fat loss can only be achieved in all areas of your body at once, and it can only be achieved by burning more calories than you ingest, and you burn calories most effectively by building muscle." He also states, "So how do you lose love handles, flabby glutes, or a soft tummy?
Eat well and build muscle through strength training." Since I'm 48 yrs. old with years of neglecting fitness and nutrition, I'm starting gradually with basic stretching, just to get the muscles used to working again. I'll then be moving onto using Mark's book and his 10 week strength training programs to build muscle. Also, I have never counted calories or watched what I eat, so this too will take time to get into the habit of doing. I recommend Mark's book which can be purchased as a paperback or pdf at Amazon. In fact, I found this site from a link on Mark's page.
