I've been so frustrated, lately. I have been eating absolutely horribly. Unfortunately, I get into these moods when I gain a pound or two...I think, "Oh, well, see I knew it was too good to be true. There's no way I'll ever lose all this weight." And I HATE having that mentality, because then I go and eat whatever I want out of anger. I feel like every time I get into the routine of eating right, going to the gym, etc...SOMETHING comes along and throws me out of sync. I was doing SO WELL for a while, and now I just can't seem to get back on track! What are some things that gets you guys back on track when you've fallen off? I could use anything as a form of encouragement, at this point. I really want this weight to come off, and I really want to be healthy. I hate feeling like this.

It's hard to fight your love of "horrible food". It's a love/hate relationship exactly as you described. Notice that you use any "excuse" to justify not choosing eating different foods. The past doesn't matter in terms of your choices, what matters is what you today...right now. Diets play out one day at a time, so make a choice today to do some small thing to contribute towards eating healthily. Don't put it off to start tomorrow or next week. Start right now! It can be a small choice to eat a banana instead of an ice-cream cone. That counts.

Hey there, saw your post only recently but still wanted to comment because it seems we're about the same place in terms of weight to lose and I thought maybe I could provide support. Honestly, for me the best way to break the cycle you describe is to put it in someone else's hands. I do best on programs with controlled menus and a weekly acountaiblity appointment (aka - weigh-in). This makes a huge difference and others I've spoken to agree. I started Jenny Craig about 5 weeks ago and I've already lost 22 lbs. And for the most part, it hasn't been too painful--I've only worked out 2-4 times per week and sometimes only for 20 minutes or just a long walk. Also, don't underestimate food cycles caused by hypo-glycemia. You've likely established some pretty high insulin resistance which will make you're cravings unbearable and very difficult to control. You've got to get into "chemical balance" because then it is easy to eat the right foods. Many controlled menu diets specifically counteract the effects of insulin resistance (carb/sugar cycles).
