Frustr8writer's Journal, 02 June 2010

It has been almost 4 weeks since my surgery (4 weeks exactly on Monday). Thus far I am frustrated (like my screen name) because I think I am hitting a plateau. Although 25 lbs in approx 3 weeks is nothing to be sad about, I haven't lost any weight in a few days and I have still been eating less than 1000 cals a day, and getting out and about a bit more. I wish that I could really work out, but the dizziness (and dehydration) is preventing me from doing anything more than walking for a little bit at a time. It is sooo hard to get my liquids in these days - especially since I am going at the rate of 1 sip every 5 minutes.

I am thankful that the procedure has been pretty successful so far - at least to my health - I am no longer on my hypertension medication (in fact, my BP is typically too low) and my sugars..OMG...I haven't seen Sugars this good in YEARS!! No more than 100 at any given time of the day. Granted, I don't eat too much of anything at all. But getting my diabetic meds cut in half after less than an month is nothing short of amazing.

It still takes a lot of discipline - having the lap band - you really have to watch how you eat and not just what you eat. I have been behind on my protein for two days in a row, so I am going to have to make sure I reach my protein goal tomorrow. And...somehow manage to get all my liquids in and increase activity. When they said it was a lifestyle change....they weren't kidding!
