Evenstar's Journal, 03 April 2008

I have decided that regardless of what I eat, no matter how bad, the minimum I can do is put it here. That way I can both see where I go wrong and be accountable for what I ate. After all, I can't hide it from the scale, so why hide it from anyone else?

Today I ran some errands, including stopping for some fast food I'd been very interested in for a while, on my way to my mother's house where I was making some vegetable soups for lunch. Dinner will also be a bit high in fat, as it'll be hamburger based, but that's what we've got. Oh well. I'll try to be as good as possible, but some days you just can't win.

Definitely stay accountable to yourself, but I sense a negative mentality somewhere in there. The question is, how bad do you want it? (I have that posted on my fridge). You said that dinner will be fatty because it will be burger-based, but if the ground beef wasn't in your house to begin with, you would have to make something else! I haven't had a non-baked potato chip, ground beef, high-fat salad dressing or high-fat dessert in my house for weeks! (A good alternative to the beef, by the way, is Morningstar Farms brand sausage-style crumbles (they're soy-based). They're delicous!!) If you surround yourself with healthy foods (and some low-cal treats), you'll have no temptations around!!

I wish I had that choice, but I have a husband who is a very MEAT and potatoes guy who makes most of the shopping decisions. And he is big on beef. And he keeps buying soda and chips and such. It's hard enough to make good choices on my own, but he adds a whole new level of difficulty.

Maybe you could try having your own shelf on the fridge and in the cupboard with just your stuff. If he has tempting hamburgers, make sure you have a box of frozen veggie burgers on your shelf. If he has chocolate, make sure you have some WW boston creme pie yogurt on YOUR shelf. If he's tempting you by eating chips and drinking soda, make sure that you have diet soda and baked potato chips so you don't feel left out...and so on. Trust me, i can relate. My husband is 170lbs and eats so much crap it's ridiculous. I just make sure that I have my low-point equivalent around. Again, it's just about how badly you want this. If you're committed, nothing can stand in your way, girl! You ARE worth it!
