STILL 156. I am continuing to be disappointed in not seeing a significant change in my weight for a few weeks now. Remain on Phase 2. Feel free to look at my food diary. I don't know how to proceed. I can't seem to cut calories........Any ideas as to what I should do even if I say I CAN'T Do IT????????? Maybe I should throw out all salad dresings and stick to olive oil??? Go back to phase 1 (although I don't have real cravings and hate to give up oatmeal and bread-my two complex carbs)......I also eat a bit of fruit, but not ever day. I AM LOST!!!! On the plus side, I am not gaining but I am still frustrated.......
156.0 lb Lost so far: 9.0 lb.    Still to go: 16.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Give yourself one low day; stay away from the kitchen; get out of the house (go to a movie: Charlie Wilson's War, no popcorn); drink a lot of water; through out all bad foods... ;-)

hey Susieq1941, I'm so sorry that you're feeling frustrated but keep at it cause your weight has to eventually budge. I know its easier said than done. You're worthit and you CAN do it! I'm not really sure what else to tell you but maybe try eating a few more vegtables? fruit too? change the carbs that you are eating? maybe step up the exersise for the next week until you see your weight change. I was told that if you do the same exersise routine then your body will get used to it and it won't be as effective, maybe its the same thing with food too. Good luck to you and it looks like you're doing good! 9 pounds lost!!! Nicole

Thanks Nicole: I have gone over my food calendar just before reading your post; I can change my carb, protein and fat numbers to be more in tune with what is suggested amounts per day per the amount of calories I eat.....I guess this is the way to go because I have been more interested in total calories than where they come from.....It's in line with your suggestion.

It looks like you are doing really well! The only thing I would caution is the mango. I understand it is a high glycemic fruit and I'm not certain if it's even allowed?? Other than that, everything else looks great! I would throw in a bit more of the walking or some exercise and PUMP up that water! lol You have just hit a very normal plateau, and it's only been a little while. No worries! Be stubborn and determined and before you know it, the scales WILL move! Trust me, I know, I'd plateaued since Christmas! It's hard, but just keep on keepin' on and try switching to a different type of bread maybe? (I did look at your food diary, but don't recall what type you are eating... we go from sour dough to whole grain whole wheat.) I think if you really start pushing the water and add 10 mins per day to your workout, it'll be moving before you know it. :) *hugs* Hang in there, you can do it!! :)

Susieq....I looked at your journal...and I see your fat grams on some days are very high...compared to your calories intake....Remember each gram of fat has 9 calories and a day that you have 75 gms with only 1200 calories....well, your diet consisted of more than 50% fat that day....it needs to be lower than that in my opinion....try eliminatine some from your diet for a week - bet you'll be like me and see a BIG loss....also, agree with the above....try changing things up a bit with regards to exercise and types of carbs eaten....Stick with it tho....Plateaus are difficult to get past....but we're all to support u....Huggies

I saw that drd when I reviewed my diet calandar....too much FAT, sometimes too much protein (which also has fat) and could actually use more fiber/carbs. Thankx. Will try changes.......

You are not the only one. I am having the same problem. If you return to the Phase 1, I am sure you will lose weight again. As far as I am concerned, it is so difficult to do so while working. So I am doing my best in Phase 2, although the pace will be very slow compared with others. As you said, at least we are not gaining weight since we started and we have been eating well, haven't we? Let's watch our calories and do our best!

I'll send you an email susieq, but the biggest thing I see is the same thing I'm sure you saw once reviewing your food diary. I don't see many veggies at all. Are you sure your name isn't veggies yuk? LOL I wouldnt worry about the fat from GOOD protein, like salmon and tuna, avocados, etc.. those actually lower your bad cholesterol and are good for you. Id cut back in the BAD fats though, like in your cheese and salad dressings. I have found only 2 salad dressing Ill buy, other than that I make my own. Someone here mentioned a sugar free salad dressing and I was like whaaaaat? Ive been looking at every store and have yet to find a real good one. I should have asked them about it, was too busy, dang. One that I use when in a hurry and want something different, though the ones I make myself are better; is from Safeway, it's their Organics line, Organic Goddess dressing. 0 sugars. Id just make your own though, their tastier and have no guilt. I would say; must get more low glycemic veggies, cabbage, zuchinni, squash, gee, there are sooo many of them. Must switch out some of the bad fats like cheese and dressings for more healthy good fat options. Salads with avocado, cucumber, tomato but a healthier dressing and no cheese on it. Save those cheese fats for something else you really want it on. See how that helps. I applaud your effort!!!

Imluuvd--- I think the line is Anne's dressings and they have the Goddess dressing and others too! They are sometimes in a little different section, or up on top or over by the vinaigrettes, but if you ask, you should be able to find them. I really like their raspberry vinaigrette, too! :) The Goddess is so awesome over some grape tomatoes for a tasty snack, but you do have to watch it for the fat, ... but I think it's a healthier fat, tahini and such.

i dont kno anything about south beach diet..but from what i seen on your food journal your fat on some days is alot higher then i would think it should be..i read somewher just yesterday that should be 20% fat, 40% carbs, 40% protein..but i dont kno if thats the right ratio or not for your diet..i try an keep my protein higher..but thats me...

Yes Bullytrouble, Anne's dressings, but even after reading some of those labels, there was only two out of the line I would consider. Ive become one of those little ol' ladies you see in the grocery store with the tiny reading glasses on reading every little label and holding each product side by side. LOL

Thanks one and all. I'm getting down to work, using percentages and all your suggestions. I think the problem is that SB maintains you don't have to watch calories, fats, etc........But I suppose that works if you select the right things to begin with, but I certainly fall short on that so I won't take that advice so literally and instead will look at what constitutes my daily numbers. Thanx. Have a happy weekend. I feel relieved that I have an answer to what very well could be my problem; but I won't look at it as a huge problem-I AM LOSING weight and not gaining.
