NanaKP's Journal, 25 June 2017

I've actually had two days where I ate under 1000 calories and the rest were around 1700. It would be nice to lose some weight . I've also been more active recently . My body and brain are tired. I'm not used to doing more than sit in a chair . I'm trying to be patient, but this weight loss process is agravatingly slow.

If you can find a place where its beautiful to walk, that can help a lot to boost your motivation but really any increase in any kind of walking will help boost your health and weight loss. Take care.

I just read your profile and it sounds as if you have lived a very full life and have lots more to look forward to. I, too, was diagnosed as diabetic T2...a little over a year ago. My numbers have dropped and I am almost to the stage where I will no longer need my glipizide pill. I attribute it to a very, very low carb diet with plenty of good fats. I get a lot of my inspiration from others on this site as well as Diet Doctor.com. What you are trying to do is quite achievable and doable. I have a sibling that is also diabetic but gives plenty of excuses as to why she can't follow a diet, etc. She just eats shoots up. She gets shots in her eyes and is now looking at a possibility of dialysis. I made up my mind I was not going to go down that road. It sounds as if you are determined to also be one of those who reverses their condition. Good for you. I have horrible plateaus but I stay with it...it takes a lot of courage to be a winner. You are one.

I don't lose any weight at 1700 kcal. Try lowering your calories to 1200-1300 and see if that gets the ball rolling.

Hang in there!

1700 is a bit high for me to lose as well, and I'm in your age range. For a long time I kept myself at 1350-75. But in the past year I've found it nearly impossible to do that, so I'm eating around 1500. I lose about .5-.75 per week, and I've just learned to be satisfied with that! Good luck to you -- you seem to be making very good progress.

Thanks everyone . I am seeing my endocrinologist tomorrow . I think I'll talk to him about this . I looked at my weight history , and even if it is slow, I'm much better than three years ago when I was over 330. If I look at it that way , My 270 is not that bad. I'd just like to be under 200 before I die. So either I need to lose quicker or live a long life. Have a great day all

You can lose the weight! 1700 calories a day sounds like a lot, and that's probably why you're getting discouraged at the pace, Nana. I'm glad to read that you're moving around more, because that helps with everything.

Dear NanaKP - There is a new "challenge for Lo Carb " Starting July 2. Maybe that will help jump start you. I and others with the T2 diagnosis or pre diagnosis are doing that challenge. Hope to see you there!
