maeday42's Journal, 03 January 2017

I find when things are structured I do very well, but one chink and all is lost. During the holidays my family (brother, sis-in-law, 2 teenage nieces) visited and they were in charge of cooking certain nights (I had to work) - they are all in good shape (which always surprises me), but they don't eat veggies. After a few days my hubby told me he wasn't feeling good, I actually had to request a salad - I guess he's gotten out of the junk food since I try to cook healthy for us. They left yesterday and it took me about an hour to clean out the fridge and pantry of all the high fat/carby food they had brought. I took my blood sugars only a few times while they were here the numbers were astronomical. The funniest thing, when I weighed this morning I had lost weight. I think their way of eating caused me to eat less! So, I'm on my way to the store to replenish the vegetables and get back on track. I don't believe in resolutions, but this is the year I get things done! I've worked over 35 years and am eligible for retirement - when I do pull the plug, I want to enjoy what lies ahead, not be sick and tired all the time. This is the year I get healthy! My niece gave me a Yoga video and we did a little while she was here - I really liked it. I want to incorporate it in my life. Happy Healthy to all and strength to everyone, lets do our best in 2017!

All sounds good to me. When you crave salad that's impressive.

I know it shocked us! Usually, we have meat and salad for dinner because of my diabetes I try to eat very few carbs before bed, keeps my sugars lower in the morning.

Maybe they aren't as healthy as you think? Good for you for getting rid of the junk.
