I love my friends but at times when they show up with a movie, a bag of buttered popcorn and a pizza, it doesn't make the goals any easier. Fortunately, I'm able to have some control and don't go nuts with this stuff. How do you feel other people affect your lives?

Well, I lost .2 and basically have 3 more days to see what my outcome is for the week. Will have to get in a really hard weight training before the day's out. Have a great Friday!

228.8 lb Lost so far: 40.2 lb.    Still to go: 63.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 16 May 2014:
29 kcal Fat: 0.09g | Prot: 0.57g | Carb: 6.49g.   Breakfast: Sugar, Coffee. more...
losing 1.4 lb a week

Way to go on having control. My mom actually tries to sabotage me by buying me candy and other things to eat and hiding them in my purse, car, and anywhere she can hide them. I just give them to other people and then thank my mom for being considerate enough to buy me a snack even if I don't eat them. It works for both of us. Now my husband, uggh. He needs to stop putting high carb foods in my freezer. We are almost out of room in both of them. My neighbor will be getting some of it soon. She's more than willing to take it off my hands. My husband knows I buy a LOT of frozen veggies and fresh meats when they are on sale and both freezers can get full rather quickly. Healthy food before non-healthy food.

It's hard, but I try to control myself. After all that's what it is all about, me controlling myself.

I can really relate to you guys! It's really frustrating when your friends and families just eat what ever they want, and especially when they offer or buy high calorie foods... It really means a lot of self control, but then it is all worth it. We are doing ourselves a big favor that (hopefully) we will learn to really appreciate....good luck everyone! you're not alone!

With your friend bringing the pizza, you could eat one slice to be polite or say you already had your meal and are not that hungry. Popcorn is a whole grain, full of fiber and protein, but you probably want to eat less because of the butter and salt. It's good that you have it under control and don't go nuts in that situation. :D

Drink tons of water beforehand and you'll only fit in 1 small slice and a handful of popcorn. I understand how hard it is to not be rude when people bring food. A great idea is to let them know for future purposes to only bring enough food for themself and that way you can keep track on your weight loss.

Way to go, staying on your plan!! Work is where people try to sabotage me. However, they have stopped pushing me to eat junk food after a year of saying no thank you, i'm trying to be good. My team is conditioned now that I rarely eat junk foods. My family is very supportive but they are not close by, all within 2 hours away, so I can go awhile without seeing them. When we do get together I tend not to worry much about my food though do eat mindfully, though sometimes drink too much beer.

Maybe make your own snacks beforehand. I haven't checked you diet plan, but I'm low carb, so I would just peel the toppings off and eat those...give the crust to the dog :) For salty movie snack, I take a premeasured out baggie of nuts or sunflower seeds. I'm horrible at not eating the entire box of popcorn (or chips or crackers or...), so I don't start. Good for you for standing strong!

I don't think people effect my healthy lifestyle too much, but then again they aren't pounding on my door with pizza's in hand lol. Life happens, and sometimes I indulge but as long as you're able to limit those occasions, or learn how to politely turn those things down you'll be alright.

Really good advice guys and girls. It's really something how technology has helped us touch the souls, hearts and psyche of people we have never met. I really appreciate this connection with you. Have a great weekend everyone!

I'd say that for me I feel unsupported at first but then I realize that I have to have accountability for myself. Only I can control what goes in my mouth. while it's hard you have to accept responsibility for yourself. Be prepared for yourself. Bring Apple slices, unbuttered popcorn. Eventually good friends stay preparing for you without you saying anything because they know it's who you are and not just a fad if you show them consistency

Friends and family are my main downfalls so I completley understand. Mine just show up whenever they feel like even after I have told all of them that I prefer they call ahead. But they know I will say not to come for one reason or another. They always over stay their welcome which messes up my excercising and getting dinner eaten at an appropriate for me to keep things going my way. I sometimes have to hybernate in my bedroom to keep myself sane and people think I'm being a B, unsociable, snotty or whatever else they say. But when someone brings any kind of food offering a simple NO THANK YOU, I'M GOOD has always been the most polite, honest way to deal with that situation and people appreciate the honesty with no questions asked. :)

I have a cousin who likes to show up with those huge cookies they use instead of a birthday cake, bags of chocolate and so on. Finally I had had enough of it and went off on her. Probably not the best thing to do, but how rude to bring all of that? She is 350 lbs and refuses to diet, or eat right and her weight is holding her back from being able to have a baby. Anyway, it's just rude

Exactly, what choose to eat is your decision...you do not have to et whatever they how up with..

I have troublemaker cousins too! Lol. People mean well but it all boils down to us really. I made this crazy goal this week to be perfect and to lose 5 pounds by next Monday. By perfect I mean hit my nutrition/calorie goals and hit my exercise goals. So far this week I've done both. Normally I weighed myself daily because I like little successes. I will not weigh myself until next Monday and see how I did following it exactly. It's been pretty easy so far. Check out my picture today. Someone actually bought that burger at McDonalds!!! Oh my...Guess how many calories that is?
