Do you have any tips for finding the basic attire for ren fests? Like good places to buy? a lot of the clothing seems really forgiving on size, so I wouldn't have to worry about loosing weight and repurchasing for a long time.  

Back in the day I was active in the festivals in Florida. I was a knight, ringmail armor, 2 handed sword and all. Human chess match, roaming about and interacting with people, was a blast!!! My girlfriend was a washing wench :) 25+ years later I still enjoy it but no one wants to go with me so....:( 

AWESOME!!! lol. you guys aren't in california are you? we just had one...or do they happen this time of year? i dunno if that's you but those ladies look AMAZING haha 

TIPS: anything can be altered either with sewing or hot glue. You tube has video's and how to's. Pinterest has patterns. For the most basic RENN gear you can sew your own... It is a straight stitch. YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MAKE YOUR OWN CORSETT OR BODICE until you are more proficient at sewing. They can be purchased online in either the renn stores or etsy. Be sure if you are a first time corset wearer to watch the tutorial vids on you tube in the very least, perhaps visit a bridal shop and ask for assistance some will help others... not so much. BE SURE TO wear spray dry deodorant around your corset area and soft liner underneath it and do not lace it too tight or you will get corset rash and THERE IS NO CURE FOR THAT EXCEPT TIME. No we are in WENTZVILLE MISSOURI. Hey! post pics of those armor days would love to see them. To negate the risk of driving the other dieters (who are not interested in renn faire) nuts.... OMG! Those costumes look so stunning! It always took me so long to make, because I was insistent on sewing all my beads on by hand. My friend used a hot glue gun. I used to wash my gowns every year in the bath tub, so they wouldn't smell. So miss my renaissance days. Loved to sing. We where courtesans, so we had to sing in all kinds of languages. 

For my peasant clothes I throw them over the fence in the yard for a few weeks... turning daily and soaking with hose. MUCH to the dismay of my neighbors. Of course laying them on the grass and walking along the hems and occasionally cooking dinner in them help toward realism.. as far as looking lived in.
