wholefoodnut's Journal, 24 April 2017

I haven't been here much for awhile. My journals are open to anyone so if you are reading this and don't know me. I have this theory that weight loss and getting healthy is tied to everything in your life. You have to feel good about you to be successful. My life has been a bit chaotic so part of me feeling good is having my home inside and out be places I love. That also extends to feeling good about relations with family and friends. This time of year my world shifts to grandkid's baseball games and working on my yard.

I love love my gardens. They are a sanity therapy in a chaotic world. My journey has been filled with facing demons of my past lives and nearly 70 pounds lighter and keeping all but the recent 5 pounds off for over 2 years. I'm in a pretty good place now.

For the next 10 days will have restrictions on activity (cataract surgery) and will get back to tracking next week when back to work. I'm at least getting steps in while restricted from exercise and lifting.

Working hard (with restrictions) or at least trying to stay within limits ;) on the vegetable gardens then the herbal ones next. The front yard looks pretty good but the back needs much work. That means healthy outside activity for me. I should have greens to eat from the early planted ones by next week, could raid them as micro greens right now. I would if I could bend and cut dandelion greens as well.

2 new raised beds, fenced from the pups. I will have 5 8x4 fenced raised beds as I'm adding fencing to the 3 existing ones. The pups keep eating everything or digging. One entire bed is asparagus that I moved last year as my Pepper pup ate all but one tiny spear last year! My pups love veggies!!

Cleared for #2 cataract surgery on Wed. Wed will be a lost day. Tomorrow morning off to have the ac on my new car worked on as it is not blowing cold and grandsons' ballgames late afternoon. Hoping the car doesn't take too long as a good day to work outside. Then Thursday morning a post op eye doc appt and the dentist after that. Will try to get the pups in to the vet on Friday. Dang I need about 3 weeks off to get caught up!! Working on the yard when I can.

Cataract surgery has come a long way. I have had both eyes done and am very happy with my results. Just follow docs orders and all will be super fine!

Shame your pups keep eating your veggies. Good luck with the surgery today.

Thanks all, 2 nd eye done today. Post op check in the am then off to the dentist. Hoping all is well. It is beginning to itch, so a good sign. Wish I could rub my eye, not a good idea. Doobrie, did not make me happy when my dogs ate the veggies. I couldn't help but laugh when I would catch them stealing them. I will share---but they can't have all of them. ;)

HCB, not much help needed. 15 yo grandson was here over the weekend to help me with garden and a few other chores, we had a blast! Oldest and youngest DDs took me and brought me from surgeries but had to get off to their busy lives after (kids and jobs). All good.

I had a deaf Pyrenees who was a wonderful friend. One summer I kept finding "holes" in my ripe tomatoes. Thought it might be slugs and spent time looking for other things that might make sizable holes in my ripening tomatoes. One day the big guy came to greet me, panting and I saw the tomato seeds stuck on his teeth! Garden fence!

Funny, I've caught mine carefully picking veggies off the plants looking out the back window and Pepper grazing on my asparagus.

Bill, thanks the surgeries went well. The last post op doc appt is Wed this week. The hardest part, being told not to do things I felt perfectly fine to do.

Once it is all done and over with ... and you mend .... you will be out there bending over and planting and having the time of your life. Patience little grasshopper.
