ofdwolf's Journal, 07 December 2016

Yesterday was the fourth anniversary of my heart attack. I celebrated by running a treadmill 5K (too cold and rainy to run outside yesterday) and had a lean beef taco salad for dinner.

When I was in the Navy I spent 20 years only running the mandatory twice a year 1 1/2 mile run now at 50 I run a minimum of 1 1/2 miles three times a week. I still don't like running but I darn sure do it regularly now because I feel so much better now than I did when I carried that extra 50 pounds around.

So get out there and make it happen, not for your spouse, not for your children, not even for me. Get it done for you because you are worth the effort and you will feel so much better physically and mentally, when you get to your goal.

Wow, Ofdwolf. Bet you are glad to be around. Many don't get a second chance. You watch the diet and keep the exercise going. I hope you don't smoke. I have so many friends, that still do and don't care. You have a great day! Congrats to you for protecting us!

ofdwolf, I was never in the service, but when I played sports in school, punishment was always "give me 20!" or "do laps until I tell you to stop!" No wonder I hated running for the longest time. I got so I actually loved it! If only my joints could keep doing it now. Keep it up brother!

I love reading journals like this! I am so glad you are doing great, alive and kicking and helping others do the same. I just started taking fish oil because a friend of mine who works in a lab developing heart meds said the best thing you can do for your heart is exercise and fish oil.
