erikahollister's Journal, 29 July 2016

I went through my drawers today and got rid of all the size 18 and 20's that are hanging off me and all the size 2X tops. Sent a big garbage bag of clothes that I will never need again off to the Goodwill. Even the 16's are pretty baggy, but I'll wear them as long as possible, until they just look silly. That feels pretty great!

I should do that too with my clothes but I am scared what if I need them again!! Good for you for taking that step!

Don't go thinking you'll need them again! Get rid of them. That way if you start gaining you won't have your big clothes to reach for; you'll be reminded to stop gaining and keep fitting into the smaller ones. If you store them; what are you really saying to yourself: I expect to gain the weight back. Hell no; away they go!

I missed this yesterday--this is so exciting! Getting rid of them is the very best, that and wishing well to the person who needs them next.

Always avoid alliterations! But that was really good. :) I've got a contractor bag of clothes I've been culling from my closet. My local recycling center has a "free store" in one corner. Things that are perfectly usable, but unwanted can be left there. I prefer to take my stuff there because it can go to people who can't afford even Goodwill prices. I've even gotten some good things there, including a couple of cat trees for my fur-babies. Yeah, they needed some cleaning up, but a couple of hours of work is a fair trade for things that enrich their lives. I had some clothes that were too small for me, but now that they fit, I decided I don't like the style....so they went, too. Clear the excess weight of "stuff" while youre clearing the other weight!
