I wonder if the water in coffee counts as daily water intake? I drink so many cups a day, it would be awesome if it did count!!

I wouldn't think so because caffeine is a diaretic (<sp?), but I could be wrong.

It is a diuretic but it does not effect hydration.

Minimal effect. Yes, it's a diuretic, but the water ingested far exceeds the diuretic effect, not to mention that coffee is the #1 source of antioxidants in the north American diet.

The purists say it doesn't count, but it is fluid, and if you drink as much as I do it must go some way towards hydration. I don't count it in my total. I have 2.5 litres of water over and above my tea, coffee and soda.
